BURRILLVILLE- Marjorie J. (Daughtery) Silverthorne, 83, died Friday, April 12, 2013 after a brief illness at Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pascoag. She was a resident of Buck Hill Rd, Pascoag.
Born in Pascoag to the late James and Olivia (Martindale) Daughtery, she was the wife of the late James W. Silverthorne, who passed away in 1992.
Formerly of Camp Dixie Rd, Pascoag and Front Ridge Rd, Littleton, ME, she retired in 1983 and made Littleton her home, returning to Pascoag in 2000 to reside with her family.

Organizers: R.I. marathons will be held

PAWTUCKET — The director of two of Rhode Island’s biggest road races says there are no plans to cancel the races in light of Monday’s Boston Marathon bomb attack.
Charles Breagy, who directs the Navigant Credit Union Running Festival Half Marathon and 5K in Pawtucket — scheduled to be held this year on May 5 — and the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K in Providence — slated for Sept. 22 — says the two races will go on as planned.
“These races are still in place to happen. We’re revisiting security and we’ve reached out to police, but as of today, the races will go on,” Breagy said.

PAWTUCKET — For members of the PawSox family with Massachusetts blood running through their veins, the horrific and tragic events that marred the Boston Marathon hit particularly hard.
“It’s a special day for race fans and baseball fans; there’s a (Boston Bruins) game at night. It’s a great time for the town,” explained manager Gary DiSarcina, a native of Malden, Mass. and current resident of Plymouth. “When you least expect it, that’s when these things happen.”

PAWTUCKET — What David Ortiz is attempting to do is adhere to spring-training protocol.
The question is, will the Red Sox slugger be able to get everything ironed out over eight or so at-bats in the coming days with the Pawtucket Red Sox? In 2010, Ortiz received 62 at-bats in spring training and equaled the total the following year. In 2012, he collected 57 Grapefruit League at-bats.

Lincoln survives close call with Mount in 6-5 win

WOONSOCKET — In an impressive 26-game win streak that dates back to its season opener a year ago, Lincoln has experienced only a handful of close games that not only tested the team’s mettle, but also presented some anxious moments for its players, coaches, and fans.
But while most of those tight contests were decided by three or more runs, only one was a one-run nailbiter — Tuesday afternoon’s chilly Division I affair against host and longtime foe Mount St. Charles.

MILLIS, MA- Maureen E. Delaporta Of Millis, died Monday evening, April 15, 2013, at Medway Country Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her family, She was 82.
The daughter of the late William and Rose (Robillard) Durkin, she was born in North Smithfield, RI and raised and educated in Woonsocket. She has been a Millis resident for over 55 years.
A homemake her life centered around her family.
The wife of the late Richard Delaporta, she was predeceased by her sisters, Hope Johnston, Sheila Durkin, Kay LeClerc and Judy Plante.

WOONSOCKET- Frances M. (Niro) Donnelly, 90, of Rhodes Ave formerly of Chateau Claire, died Friday April 12, 2013, in the Friendly Home, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late James C. Donnelly.
Born in Milford, Mass, daughter of the late Francis and Rose (Tomassini) Niro.
She worked in production for the US Rubber Co. for 25 years.

WOONSOCKET- Cecile L. (Riquier) Gilbert, 90, formerly of Sharkey Ave, died Friday, April 12, in the Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Aldor Gilbert.
She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Aldora (Morin) Riquier.
She was a devoted homemaker, a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the beach.

BLACKSTONE- Ella A. (Johnson) Demers, 83, of King St., died Sunday April 14, in Milford Regional Hospital, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Gerald M. Demers.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late John and Hilda (Johnson) Johnson.
Ella was Owner & Operator of Ella's Variety on Rathbun St. in Blackstone, MA., and also she worked as a line technician supervisor for Foxboro Co., until retiring in 1984.
She was an avid sewer, knitter and crocheter. She loved spending quality time with her family.
