Lincoln tops Cranston West in lacrosse playoff opener

LINCOLN — To be blunt, Lincoln High head coach Mike Ethier didn’t approve of his squad’s overall desire during the opening half of its R.I. Division III Tournament quarterfinal tilt against Cranston West on windy Thursday afternoon.
The Lions had held a 3-2 advantage at the break, but Ethier and his assistants let loose on the contingent, explaining they wanted to see more spirit and fundamentally-sound lacrosse over the final 24 minutes.

Murray, a city native, operates The Opulent Squid in the Le Moulin Artist Mall at 68 South Main St., selling an eclectic selection of her own jewelry designs and consignment items in mixed mediums.

Summer season kicks off with Memorial Day events

They’re known as The Flying Squadron, an ever-changing group of Uxbridge veterans who have made it a Memorial Day tradition over the past 138 years to visit local schoolchildren with a simple message: The final Monday of May is not just the start of summer vacation season, but a time to honor Americans who died while serving in the U.S. military.
The squadron, which is made up today of 20 town veterans divided into two units, will conduct its 139th consecutive visitation to town schools on Friday to kick off the town’s Memorial Day observances.

WOONSOCKET- Bertrand R. Belanger 66, of Adams St. died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of Jacqueline (Saumur) Belanger. Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Alphonse and Flora (Berube) Belanger. Bert owned and ran K.C. Wood Products along with his wife since 1986. He had previously owned Knitters Corner, and was the past Vice President of the West Shore Rd Association in Denmark, ME. Bert enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake home in Maine.

BURRILLVILLE- Ronald P. Ducharme, 65, of Harrisville, RI, passed away May 23, 2013 at the Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Pascoag.
He was the son of Ruth (Mayhew) Ducharme of Harrisville, and the late Bertram Ducharme.
Ronald worked 15 years, for the RI State Maintenance Garage in Glocester, until 1980. He was a lifelong Burrillville resident.
