McGair: RIIL division alignment shouldn't send mixed messages

A little of this, a little of that …

Based on recent discussion by the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s Principals’ Committee on Athletics, it might be time to chisel in stone the following commandment:

“Thou shalt not alter the makeup of divisions in non-realignment years.”

The time has come to take a hard line on teams petitioning the PCOA to move up or down in the midst of a given realignment cycle. The 2013-14 school term marks the conclusion of a two-year realignment, a precursor to the presumed changes to the realignment formula that figure to take effect in 2014-15.

WOONSOCKET- Elizabeth (Wright) Nealy, 94, of passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Friendly Home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John L. Nealy.
Born in Cobbtown, GA on March 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Susie (Lowry) Wright.

WOONSOCKET- Gloria M. (Latini) Laquerre, 84, of Poplar St. died Tuesday June 25, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of Fernand J. Laquerre.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Santos and Dosolina (Alexandria) Latini.
Gloria worked for Finklesteins and Needlecraft and as a cashier for Almacs for several years prior to retiring.
She was a former member of of the YWCA Seniors and St. Joseph's Seniors, and the 1st Tuesday Club.
She enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing Bingo, cards and socializing with friends.

MILLVILLE, MA- Normand "Mike" Marcotte, 80 of Millville, MA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Yvonne (Plante) Marcotte.
Born in Bellingham, MA on August 31, 1932, he was the son of the late Antonio and Aurore (Barrette) Marcotte.
