WOONSOCKET- Florette A. (Lavallee) Peloquin Pare 93, formerly of Chimney Hill Apartments in Cumberland, died Saturday June 22, 2013 at Oakland Grove Health Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Arthur O Pare Jr. and Gerald E. Peloquin.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Palmyre (Lamoureux) Lavallee.

HIGHLAND SPRINGS, VA- Lydia Sgroi Robillard, 72. passed on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Rose Nisi Sgroi, and her sister Gloria Sgroi Valour.
She leaves behind her husband The Rev. Roger M. Robillard and her sisters Ann Zudekoff, Nina Quatrock (Tom) and brother James Sgroi (Andria).

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Richard R. Allard 54, of Great Rd. died Saturday at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Claire (Saumur) Allard.
Born in Woonsocket he was the son of Pauline (Rainville) Allard of Woonsocket, and the late Leo Allard.
Richard was a machine operator for R & R Machine for over eighteen years. He was an avid fisherman.

Then again, Morgan Pressel isn’t exactly idling away the hours herself.
Even though Thompson, a rising star on the LPGA Tour, has an eye on the U.S. Women’s Open that’s scheduled for later this week on Long Island’s Sebonack Golf Club, the 18-year-old was dead set on coming to Rhode Island Country Club to participate in the CVS Caremark Charity Classic for the second straight year.

Budget panel considers backup tax

WOONSOCKET – The much ballyhooed $2.5 million supplemental tax bill that’s still dangling in limbo as the 2013 session of the General Assembly draws to a close could look unexpectedly palatable compared to what the Budget Commission has in mind as its go-to alternative.
If the supplemental dies, commissioners said Monday, they’ll explore the possibility of raising an “administrative tax” of $4.7 million, on top of regular 2014 taxes, in a manner that lawmakers already approved more than a decade ago.

C.F. chemical fire draws dozens of responders

CENTRAL FALLS — Brutally hot outside temperatures and a fire and chemical spill inside a paint factory combined to cause a hazardous and uncomfortable scene for dozens of area firefighters on Monday.
Firefighters responded to the five-alarm blaze at around 11:30 a.m. at General Polymer Inc., an industrial paints and coatings company located at 59 Foundry St. The company occupies a three-story, 75,000-square foot brick mill building located in a densely populated neighborhood off Broad Street.

Born in Harrisville, he was the son of the late Albert and Donalda (Cabana) Lemire.

WOONSOCKET- Roger Lebrun, 56, of Achille Street, Woonsocket, lost his 2 year battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center on Thursday June 20, 2013.
He was the husband of Jodi (Delasanta) Lebrun. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in March.
He leaves a daughter, Lindsay-Rae Lebrun and her spouse Lyz Schroeter, of San Francisco, a son Adam Lebrun and his spouse Catie, of North Smithfield, and his beloved granddaughter, Leah Lebrun. He also leaves his cherished 4 legged companion for the last 2 years "Stevie Mix."
