New RIIL realignment guidelines to take effect in 2014-15

PROVIDENCE — Perhaps there’s no way getting around it. Coming up with a realignment proposal that soothes the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s masses is not as simple or straightforward as snapping one’s fingers.
That said, a few ruffled feathers has not impeded the realignment committee branch of the Rhode Island Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (RIIAAA) from coming up with a solution that on the surface could help foster the kind of harmony that has been elusive whenever this particular topic is mentioned.

BELLINGHAM, MA- Sandra L. (Shelley) Speroni, 69, of Bellingham, died Mon. Aug. 19, 2013. She was the wife of Paul L. Speroni.
In addition to her husband Paul of 50 years, she is survived by one son; Rev. Bryan K. Speroni and his wife Pamela of Pascoag, RI; one daughter; Shelley A. and her husband Rev. Richard B. Mosher of Bellingham, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Saturday August 24, 2013 at 10 AM in the Bellingham Bible Baptist Church, 365 Hartford Ave. Rt. 126, Bellingham, MA.

Aldor R. Chevrette

WOONSOCKET- Aldor R. Chevrette, 87, formerly of Logee St., Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Woonsocket Health Center with family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of the late Patricia M. (Schram) Chevrette.
Born in Woonsocket o n August 3, 1926,he was the son of the late Joseph and Flora (Boucher) Chevrette.

WOONSOCKET Rita H. (Lafond) Roy, 93, of Trinity, FL formerly of Woonsocket, died Thursday August 15, 2013 at the Trinity Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Adrien Roy with whom she had been married for seventy years.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Helen (Belanger) Lafond.
Rita was an assembler for the former US Rubber Company for twenty nine years. She also worked at AT Cross for eleven years, before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the All Saints Christian Group at Holy Family Church.

WOONSOCKET- Arnold A. Smith, 77, of Fall St. died Friday August 16, 2013, at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce (Ducharme) Smith.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Harold and Mildred (Mowry) Smith.
Mr. Smith worked in maintenance for Amica Ins. for 15 years and Textron for 10 years, prior to retiring.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed watching his favorite teams on television.

Mailbox, mail damaged by fire

WOONSOCKET – The U.S. Postal Service is investigating a possible fire that damaged mail placed in the mail collection box at 996 Cass Ave.
In a statement issued on the incident Monday, the Postal Service said some mail placed in the blue collection box was found “destroyed, apparently from fire.”
No incendiary items were found in the box but a plastic tub inside the box used to gather the deposited mail was found melted along with burned paper debris.

Blackstone-Millville adds to school staff

BLACKSTONE – Along with new interim School Superintendent Perry Davis, there will be another new face in the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District this fall.
Joining Perry in the central administration office will be Kirsten Esposito-Balboni, who was recently appointed as the district’s new assistant school superintendent - a position that was reinstated for this school year.

MANVILLE- Paul R. Guevremont, 95, formerly of Manville Manor, passed away Sunday in the Oakland Grove Nursing Home, Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Marie (Leclerc) Guevremont,
Born in St. Ignace, de Loyola, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Rose Guevremont. He resided in the Manville section of Lincoln for most of his life.
Mr. Guevremont, was employed as a weaver for many years until his retirement.
He was a communicant of the St. James Church, Manville.
