Area football followers get first glimpse at squads

LINCOLN – Fans flocked to Lincoln High's Ferguson Field on Thursday afternoon/evening to catch a glimpse of what their varsity grid teams may offer this season in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's four divisions.

Perhaps the most tense tilt for the crowds attending this R.I. Injury Fund quadruple-header came in the form of Shea's 7-0 victory over Woonsocket, that a battle of usual Division II mainstays. The most entertaining contest, however, was the third, a free-for-all between D-I's East Providence and D-II's St. Raphael Academy.

Market, music and evening soirée at French Heritage Festival

WOONSOCKET – Hot on the heels of last week’s block party celebrating Woonsocket’s 125th birthday, this Saturday’s annual French Heritage Festival & Soirée is all about spreading Francophile cheer and celebrating the city’s French-Canadian heritage.

And you don’t have to be French-Canadian to enjoy the festivities.

MILLVILLE- Richard C. Bryson, 67, of Millville, passed away Tues. Sept. 3, 2013 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge, MA. He was the husband of Gail R. (Romanos) Bryson.
Mr. Bryson was a science teacher at Bartlett Jr. /Sr. High School in Webster for 9 years. He had previously been employed as an Ironworker in RI/MA, and also worked many years at the Blissful Meadows Country Club in Uxbridge.
