WOONSOCKET â€“ Police say an East Woonsocket woman was attacked with a knife after she confronted neighbors she suspected had broken into her home.
Toni Janis, 28; and Chad Nunes, 33, both of 2229 Diamond Hill Road, Apt. E, are facing felony charges stemming from the assault, said Det. Jamie Paone.
Theyâ€™re also charged with numerous counts of receiving stolen goods, breaking and entering, and larceny â€“ 16 counts in all. The charges stem from the break into the victimâ€™s home as well as thefts from the motor vehicles of three other neighbors.
PAWTUCKET â€“ Steven Wright returned to McCoy Stadium on Thursday afternoon. His Pawtucket Red Sox teammates didnâ€™t get back from Rochester until 5:30 on Friday morning.
The move to make sure that Pawtucketâ€™s Game 3 starter was well rested paid off handsomely. Wrightâ€™s knuckleball baffled the Rochester hitters to the tune of 6.1 scoreless innings as the PawSox downed the Red Wings, 5-1, before 4,681 enthusiastic and supportive fans Friday night at McCoy Stadium.
Edward R. Michaud
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Michaud, Edward R. "Ted", 65, of Slatersville, passed away September 4, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence.
He was the loving husband of 41 years to Simonne R. (Martin) Michaud.
He was born in Pawtucket, son of the late Edward & Eleanor (Berthiaume) Michaud.
Ted worked for RI School for the Deaf as a bus driver and previously was a truck driver for several area companies. He was a resident of Slatersville, previously living in Providence. He enjoyed playing golf, and loved to spend time with his wife.
Rita A. Plante
JOHNSTON- Rita A. Plante 91, of Pocasset Bay Manor in Johnston, formerly of Mapleville, died Thursday at Fatima Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alfred Plante and Oscar H. Beauchamp.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Emma (Aubin) Chabot.
Rita was a salesperson for Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years and was awarded a pink Cadillac.
She is survived by two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Rita was predeceased by her son Oscar J. Beauchamp, and brother Armand Chabot.
