Charles T. O'Rourke
WOONSOCKET- Charles T. O'Rourke, 69, of Gaskill St. died May 17, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was the husband of Barbara H. (McMahon) O'Rourke for forty-nine years. Her kindness and beauty lived within his heart.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late George J. and Laura B. (Jalette) O'Rourke of Woonsocket and Wilmington, NC.
Mary Kamer
WOONSOCKET- Mary Kamer, 81, of Dulude Ave, died Monday May 20, 2013 at home with her family by her side.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Shookry and Eva (Doura) Kamer.
Mary worked as a stitcher for 35 years at Finkelsteins, prior to retiring.
Mary was a very caring and giving individual, everyone could always count on Mary to be there when needed. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time at the Ocean.
She was past president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union.

PAWTUCKET – Concrete evidence as to why Steven Wright is experiencing a downturn on the mound recently was on full display in the first inning of his latest start on Monday.
Dealing with a bases-loaded mess that came about due to a walk and two singles, Wright looked in at Indianapolis’ Jerry Sands, owner of a .168 batting average. As has been the case lately, Wright quickly fell behind, this time 2-0 to Sands.
PAWTUCKET – Pawtucket’s new third baseman came out feeling pretty good about his showing at the hot corner on Tuesday afternoon.
“It was fun to see the game from a different angle,” smiled Jose Iglesias after the PawSox came out on top in a wild 9-8 affair against Indianapolis. “I’ve never played third base in my life and it wasn’t bad.”
Iglesias was making his professional debut at third after logging 313 games at shortstop between the majors and minors. His first chance came in the third inning where Iglesias one-hopped a throw to first baseman Drew Sutton. He was charged with an error.
LINCOLN — Back on April 30, Mount St. Charles Academy head coach Sean McClelland had to face crosstown rival Woonsocket without three of his top four singles players, including senior tri-captain Jack Ricci, sophomore Mike Doody and junior Travis Connolly.
The first two were out due to illness and a back injury, respectively, while Connolly missed it for what McClelland termed “a disciplinary reason.”
WOONSOCKET – A leading advocacy group for affordable housing released a report today criticizing state government for failing to protect its investments in affordable housing with additional funds for maintenance and operations.
The HousingWorks RI report characterizes affordable housing as an essential component of the state’s economic development infrastructure. The report, entitled “The Complete Approach to Affordable Housing,” says the state not only needs more affordable housing but should invest more to make sure what it has is sustainable.
WOONSOCKET – At a time when residents’ fees for curbside trash collection are expected to double in the months ahead, the city is still subsidizing the cost of trash collection in public housing projects by more than $50,000 a year, according to Mayor Leo T. Fontaine.
The mayor is pushing the Woonsocket Housing Authority to absorb those costs, but a preliminary plan unveiled during a meeting of the Budget Commission Monday was rejected by the WHA as needlessly “punitive.”
Rita J. Remy
WOONSOCKET- Rita J. Remy, 89, formerly of St. Paul St., died Sunday May 5, 2013 at the Friendly Home in Woonsocket where she resided for the past several years.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Azama (Charron) Remi. She was a lifelong city resident.
Rita was a graduate of St. Claire High School and went on the graduate from the Joan Potvin hairdressing school in Pawtucket.
In her earlier years Rita worked at McCarthy's Department Store and then was an independent hairdresser operating her own salon for many years.
Lucille Pinsonneault
WOONSOCKET- Lucille Pinsonneault, 86, formerly of Gilbert St,. Woonsocket, died Saturday at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late William and Angelina (Boisell) Pinsonneault. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Lucille was a longtime communicant of Precious Blood Church and was a well-read person.
Marjorie M. Gentile
WOONSOCKET- Marjorie M. "Marge" (Scott) Gentile, 86, of Olympia Ave. died May 18, 2013 in the Oakland Grove Health Center with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Lilio J.Gentile.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late, Henry and Lillian (Bernhart) Scott.
Marge worked for Mazzarelle Spinning,and also Finkelsteins, for 25 years,and and at Coby Glass, prior to retiring.
She enjoyed, knitting,and cooking for her family and friends and love spending time with her two granddaughters.
