Raymond E. Lemire
SLATERSVILLE- Raymond E. Lemire, 93, of Slatersville, died June 23, 2013 at The Friendly Home in Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Olida (Souza) Lemire.
Born in Harrisville, he was the son of the late Albert and Donalda (Cabana) Lemire.
WOONSOCKET- Roger Lebrun, 56, of Achille Street, Woonsocket, lost his 2 year battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center on Thursday June 20, 2013.
He was the husband of Jodi (Delasanta) Lebrun. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in March.
He leaves a daughter, Lindsay-Rae Lebrun and her spouse Lyz Schroeter, of San Francisco, a son Adam Lebrun and his spouse Catie, of North Smithfield, and his beloved granddaughter, Leah Lebrun. He also leaves his cherished 4 legged companion for the last 2 years "Stevie Mix."
Joseph P. Neveu
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Joseph P. Neveu, 79, of North Smithfield, died Sunday in the Philip Hulitar Center. He was the husband of Claire (Rondeau) Neveu.
Mr. Neveu was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Albert and Gloriana (Bruneau) Neveu.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, and was employed for many years at Allied Container as an assembler. He was a member of the Cercle Laurier.
Annie M. Ouellette
MANVILLE- Annie M. Ouellette, 91, of Manville, died Sunday June 16, 2013 at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence. She was the wife of the late Laurent N. Ouellette.
Born in Manville she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Bridget (Durante) Pandolfi. She was a lifelong resident of Manville and lived in the house she was born in for her entire life.
Mrs. Ouellette worked in the local mills in her early years was a dedicated homemaker as she raised her family.
BURRILLVILLE- Genevieve V. (Swiech) Bonczek, 94, died Friday June 21, 2013 at Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag. Wife of the late Sigmund M. Bonczek.
Born in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Walter and Veronica (Bienia) Swiech.
Eleanor Marie Leduc
GREENVILLE- Eleanor Marie (O'Donnell) Leduc, 89, of Greenville, died Friday, June 21, 2013 in Cortland Place, Greenville. She was the wife of the late Leo A. Leduc Sr..
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Haigh) O'Donnell.
WOONSOCKET â By all accounts, the firm Braver PC of Providence had done a praiseworthy job auditing the cityâs books for the last six years.
So why did the Budget Commission cut Braver loose, awarding the cityâs auditing contract to a higher bidder from New London, Conn.?
Officials say their hands were tied by a City Council ordinance designed to prevent auditing firms from getting too cozy with the city. The ordinance prohibits the city from doing business with one accounting firm for more than six years in a row.
WOONSOCKET â The Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) and national non-profit KaBOOM! have awarded the Bernon Heights Elementary School PTO, in partnership with the Woonsocket Education Department (WED), a $15,000 Letâs Play Community Construction Grant to build a playground.
The grant is part of Letâs Play, a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to get kids and families active nationwide. In 2011, as part of Letâs Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group made a $15 million, three-year commitment to KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to promoting safe playground development.

BELLINGHAM â The story of bravery and sacrifice aboard the USS Samuel B. Roberts during the World War II Battle of Leyte Gulf and its ties to a Franklin family will be highlighted during a book signing at the Barnes and Noble bookstore at Stallbrook Market Place at 270 Hartford Avenue on Thursday, June 27.
Author John K. Wukovits will be at Barnes & Noble at 7 p.m. to speak about his latest book on World War II, âFor Crew and Country: The Inspirational True Story of Bravery and Sacrifice Aboard the USS Samuel B. Roberts,â according to Mary Cliff, the storeâs community relations manager.
