Woonsocket, Burrillville police charge six in home invasions

WOONSOCKET – Five men and a juvenile male have been arrested in connection with two home invasions – one in Burrillville and one on Park Avenue – in which marijuana was stolen this month. An arrest warrant has also been obtained for a sixth man.
In custody are Kyeme Gallagher, 22, of 20 Bell St.; Charles Welch, 23, of 97 Roberts St.; Cyril Delgado, 19, of 97 Roberts St.; Andrew Perry, 21, of 90 Girard Ave., Newport; and Randy Santana, 21, of 482 Park Ave., and a 17-year-old male from the city.

CUMBERLAND- Edward T. Kross, 94, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy (Longtin) Kross. They were happily for 67 years.
Born in Putnam, CT, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Kross. Mr. Kross was an army veteran of World War II.
He was a parts manager for several Ford dealerships, including Jack Madden of Norwood Ford, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed bowling, ballroom dancing, and traveling. For many years, he wintered in Florida with his wife.

GLOCESTER- Margaret T. (Magner) Kopeski, 89, of Chepachet, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Michael J. Kopeski, Sr.
She was born in Harrisville, a daughter of the late John J. and Eugenie (Gaucher) Magner.

DH Hitting, LLC swings into business in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET --- You can tell a business is booming when after three months in operation, the owners have been so busy that they haven’t found the time to plan a Grand Opening ceremony.
That’s been the case with the ownership group of DH Hitting, LLC, a baseball and softball indoor training facility on 70 Vineyard St. in Pawtucket that opened its doors last Nov. 16 and hasn’t slowed down since the very first swings were taken in their batting tunnels.

Local ADs welcome fresh source of funds from RIIL's revenue-sharing program

What is one telltale sign that an organization is doing well from a financial standpoint? Answer: When a revenue-sharing plan is met with a ringing endorsement by the powers-that-be.
“We’re all in this together,” is the phrase Tom Mezzanotte, executive director of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, used shortly the approval of a revenue-sharing program at the March 18 Principals’ Committee on Athletics meeting. The unanimous vote (10-0) green lights the distribution of profits that are leftover once all the RIIL’s expenses are all squared away to the 55 member high schools.

HAINES CITY, FL.- Dr. Alice R. Boudreau, 85, March 6, 2013, Haines City, FL. Life-long educator and school psychologist, retiring from the Woonsocket School Dept. in 1989 and resuming her career in 1999 at the age of 72 in Central Florida following the death of her husband Alphonse.
She is survived by her sons Roger P. and wife Christine; Maurice J. and partner Patricia Burrows; grand daughter Trina M. Laverty and husband James; great grand daughter Alyce M. Laverty and James' children Jaynie and Jim.

BURRILLVILLE- Labossiere, Anna D., (Calise), 86, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013. She was the wife of the late Theodore J. "Ted" Labossiere.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Guiseppina (Gugliemo) Calise.
Anna worked in local mills prior to working at Zambarano Hospital and the Lincoln Group Home for 12 years before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Theresa's Church, Nasonville and was a member of their women's guild for many years.

So-called “payday lenders” offer you quick cash for emergencies or to help you make ends meet until your next paycheck. But that money comes at a high price.

Reed visits Family Resources to call attention to federal cuts

WOONSOCKET – U.S. Senator Jack Reed, D-RI, paid a visit to Family Resources Community Action’s 55 Main St. Employment Center Tuesday to call attention to its work and the potential impact of federal budget cuts locally.
Reed toured the Center’s youth and adult job training classrooms and spoke with Family Resources instructor Melissa Rouleau and Youth Services manager Stump Olsen about their work with area residents in the center.

WOONSOCKET- Jules R.C. Gadoury, 80, of Woonsocket, formerly of Blackstone, MA, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Riley) Gadoury, whom he married, September 26, 1953.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Sarto A.R. and Ernestine (Roy) Gadoury.
