NORTH SMITHFIELD- Peter L. O'Hara, Jr., 86, of No. Smithfield, died January 13, 2013 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Providence. He was the husband of Thelma L. (Aldrich) O'Hara.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Peter L. O'Hara, Sr. and Josephine (Stefanik) O'Hara.
Mr. O'Hara was a mutual clerk at the former Lincoln Downs.

WOONSOCKET- Therese B. Ferrier 95, of Woonsocket, died January 14, 2013. She was the wife of the late Raymond R. Ferrier.
Born in St. Sorel, PQ Canada, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Leona (Boisvert) Lalancette. Mrs. Ferrier was a homemaker for most of her life.
She is survived by her children, Raymond V. and Monique P. Ferrier both of Woonsocket and Rachel S. Ferrier of GA, and one grandson. She was also the mother of the late Jeannine Ferrier.

SCITUATE- BLANCHARD, Robert E., 65, of Peck Hill Road died Monday at his home. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Ann (Duclos) Blanchard. They were married for 42 years.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Joseph and Juliette (Richer) Blanchard. He lived in Scituate for 12 years previously living in Coventry.
Mr. Blanchard was the owner and operator of Water Treatment Solutions. He retired from the former N. E. Telephone Company. He was a US Navy veteran.

Chafee budget contains no tax increases

PROVIDENCE – Boasting a “Back to Basics” budget that contains no increase in taxes – and even a 2 percent reduction in the corporate tax rate over three years – Gov. Lincoln Chafee submitted an $8.1 billion tax and spending plan for 2014 to the General Assembly on Wednesday.
Of the budget total, $3.4 billion will come from state taxes and other revenues, with the rest provided by the federal government.

CUMBERLAND- Therese (Reilly) Simmons, 75, passed away on January 15, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert L. Simmons.
Terry was born in Woonsocket, the daughter of the late John A. and Florence (Creighton) Reilly. She was a graduate of St. Clare High School and Regis College. She began her teaching career as a volunteer in the Lay Apostolate in Hobbs, New Mexico. She taught for several years in the Bellingham, Massachusetts and Woonsocket school systems.

BURRILLVILLE- Lise Anne Giorgi 56, resident of Oakland died peacefully at a home on January 14, 2013.
She was the loving wife to Michael Giorgi.
Lise was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Charles & Yvette (Fournier) Tessier.
She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed talking care of her husband, children, and her grandchildren, she was a resident of Burrillville most of her life.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Edward A. Falardeau, 96, of North Smithfield, formerly of Third Ave. Woonsocket, died Tuesday evening at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Rhea M. (Doire) Falardeau.
Born in Holyoke, MA., he was a son of the late Albert and Catherine (Minners) Falardeau. He was a resident of Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Falardeau served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He received the Rhineland-Ardennes- Central Europe Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct and Victory Medal.

WOONSOCKET- Laurette D. Marchand 92, of Poplar St. died Tuesday at the Philip Hulitar Center. She was the wife of the late Adelard F. Marchand.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Leda (Carle) St. Sauveur. Mrs. Marchand worked as a weaver for most of her life in several area textile mills.
