PAWTUCKET – Xander Bogaerts reached Triple-A Pawtucket as a 20-year-old and with 290 Double-A at-bats in 79 games to his credit.
Just to provide an idea of how unique his situation is, below is a list of former and current PawSox position players and where they stood at-bat and age-wise upon leaving Portland:
– Dustin Pedroia (256 at-bats in 66 Double-A games. Reached Pawtucket at age 22).
– Will Middlebrooks (37 at-bats in 96 Double-A games. Reached Pawtucket at age 22).
– Jacoby Ellsbury (271 at-bats in 67 Double-A games. Reached Pawtucket at age 23).
Woonsocket High School graduates shout and applaud as they celebrate during the end of commencement exercises on Friday night. The school handed out 295 diplomas.
Reputed Boston mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger is an 83-year-old man federal prosecutors say was responsible for 19 murders before he went on the lam in 1994.
Jodi Arias is a 32-year-old ex-waitress from Arizona who’s facing the death penalty in the grisly killing of her lover, stabbed 27 times, his throat slashed and shot in the face.
As criminal types, they have about as much in common as rocks and birds. But here’s something that may help them both: In the age of social media, it’s easier than ever for the jurors sitting in their cases to screw up.

WOONSOCKET – When you celebrate a 125th birthday, it helps to have a very large cake.
And it was a good thing Pauline Dubois and her son, Michael, had made a cake four-feet by three-feet in the shape of the city of Woonsocket given the number of people showing up at Ciro’s Tavern on Cherry Street Thursday night to celebrate Woonsocket’s incorporation as a city 125 years ago.

PAWTUCKET – The worst-case scenario that Xander Bogaerts envisioned never came to pass.
Initially, Bogaerts thought he was being summoned to the manager’s office because he didn’t protest a strike three call that came with the count full. Portland’s Kevin Boles felt the decision that went against the highly-touted prospect was egregious. Protesting balls and strikes usually results in a swift ejection, which Boles eventually received after attempting to stick up for his shortstop.
LINCOLN – A senior from the high school was reported hurt Thursday afternoon when the car he was driving struck a utility pole and rolled over onto its roof.
Police Chief Brian Sullivan said Devin Lambert, 18, of Main Street in Albion, had been heading south on Anna Sayles Road after leaving the school and struck the pole near the small rotary at Great Road.
The student was wearing a seatbelt and that may have prevented further injury in the incident, the chief said.
