BURRILLVILLE- Audrey A. (Allard) Wright, 69, of Round Top Rd., died January 8, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of Alfred Wright whom she married March 4, 1968.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Florence R. (Peloquin) Allard.
Phyllis L. Presbrey
BURRILLVILLE- Phyllis L. (Gabrielson) Presbrey, 81, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag. She was the wife of Raymond E. Presbrey, whom she married Oct. 17, 1953.
Born in Glendale she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Loretta (Bonin) Gabrielson.
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Stephanie Bissonnette, 98, formerly of Woonsocket Hill Road, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown. She was the wife of the late Harold Bissonnette.
Born in Manchaug, MA, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Antonia (Ziemba) Holubesko.
Mrs. Bissonnette had worked as a clerk for twenty years at Wrights Dairy Farm. She had also done housekeeping at the Holy Family Rectory for seven years.
Paul E. Girard
WOONSOCKET- Paul E. Girard, 80, formerly of Park Ave., Woonsocket, died Tuesday morning at The Friendly Home. He was the loving husband of Marguerite H. (Poirier) Girard. They were married on February 12, 1955.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Albani and Cora (Roy) Girard. He was a resident of the city for most of his life and also lived in Harrisville for several years.
Mr. Girard was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Era.
Woonsocket firefighters battle a structure fire at 179-183 Lincoln St. in Woonsocket shortly after noon Thursday. There were five occupied units in the six-unit structure and all residents, including one cat and one dog, escaped safely. PROVIDENCE â€” A man awaiting trial on Burrillville police charges of child molestation was recaptured here Wednesday after a week on the lam from home confinement, the state police said.
Robert Spaulding, 34, surrendered after State Police searched for him at his motherâ€™s house and the homes of other relatives and friends.
â€śHis trial was coming up,â€ť said Detective Commander Michael J. Winquist of the state police. â€śI guess he thought he wasnâ€™t going to be there.â€ť
CUMBERLAND â€” Mayor-elect Daniel J. McKee took the oath of office at an inaugural ceremony held Jan. 6 in the Blackstone River Theater.
McKee, 61, ran unopposed in the November general election, winning a sixth term as Cumberland's mayor.
Among those attending the ceremony last Sunday were state Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin and Congressman David Cicilline, as well as a contingent of state representatives and fellow mayors and town administrators.
Mary Jane Giberson
WOONSOCKET- Mary Jane (Mariani) Giberson, 96, of Winter St., Woonsocket and formerly of Atlantic City, NJ died January 7, 2013 in The Friendly Home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late William J. Giberson.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Jane (Toomey) Mariani.
Marie Annette Vezina
WOONSOCKET- Marie Annette Vezina, 94, of Woonsocket, died January 6, 2013 in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence with family by her side.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Elie and Anne Marie (Paquet) Vezina.
Ms. Vezina worked for Union St. Jean Baptiste for 32 years and was an accounting supervisor. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Precious Blood Church. She loved traveling, was an avid reader and dearly loved animals.
Joan C. Briere
BLACKSTONE- Joan C. Briere, 66, of Blackstone St. Blackstone, Mass., died Friday January 4, 2013 in the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge with her family by her side.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Raoul and Jean (Evan) Briere.
She was former owner and operator of Casablanca, in Fall River, Mass. Joan enjoyed gardening and yard work and she loved her animals.
