WOONSOCKET â A woman was taken by ambulance to Landmark Medical Center after she was hit by a car while crossing the street in front of City Hall Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses say the woman was using a crosswalk when she tried to cross Main Street around 3:25 p.m. A woman was driving a BMW heading towards the traffic light when she allegedly hit the woman, described by witnesses as being in her mid-30s.
âThis lady was crossing and all of sudden she got hit and dropped to the floor,â said one witness. âShe was lying on her side screaming, âIâm hurt.â
CUMBERLAND- John Chatty, 86, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Aska) Chatty.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Dean and Aurica (Tachi) Chatty.
Charles A. Drainville
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Charles A. Drainville 75, of 10 Rhodes Ave., died Monday at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Anita T. (Sudol) Drainville.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Gedeon and Theresa (Decelles) Drainville.
Charlie was a technician for New England Telephone/ Verizon for thirty one years before retiring sixteen years ago. He was a US Army Veteran. Charlie was an avid hockey fan, he enjoyed watching hockey, playing hockey and coaching youth hockey.
SEBASTIAN, FL- Yvonne Barrette passed away November 11, 2013.
She is survived by one daughter Joyce Savini and two sons Paul and Marc Barrette.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Sat. November 23rd at St. Paul's Church at 10:00am.
WOONSOCKET â A 32-year-old city woman was raped repeatedly by her ex-boyfriend and forced to eat food on which he had urinated â all in the presence of her 4-year-old son, police say.
Reinaldo Diaz, 34, was ordered held without bail Monday at the Adult Correctional Institutions on three counts of forcible rape, including an act of sodomy; two counts of domestic assault; and other charges. He was arrested Friday afternoon after another of the victimâs children, a daughter, called the police about a quarrel at home.
Janice Remington Faucett
BURLINGTON, VERMONT- Janice Remington Faucett, formally of Oakland, Rhode Island, passed away following a brief illness on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Burlington, Vermont.
Born Janice Elizabeth Remington on June 18, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island, she is predeceased by her parents Clinton O. Remington Jr., and Elizabeth Racine Remington of Oakland, RI.
She is also predeceased by her sisters Judith Remington Parsons formerly of Charlotte, VT and Joyce Remington McKenna formerly of Pascoag, RI.
Normand W. Grise
MANVILLE- Normand W. Grise, 67, of Manville died Saturday morning at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Gail Roy. They were married on September 3, 1976.
Born in Manville he was a son of the late Wilfrid and Eva (Laliberte) Grise. He remained a lifelong resident of Manville.
Normand was employed at Kens Foods in Marlboro, MA for over 20 years and had previously worked at Globe Distribution.
WOONSOCKET- Sophie (Przybylo) Parenteau, 93, a resident of Oakland Grove Health Care Ctr. passed away peacefully on Sunday at the center.
Born: September 5, 1920 in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Andrew & Helen (Zych) Przybylo.
She resided in Woonsocket most of her life. Sophie was a clerk for Met Life Insurance Co. for many years retiring in 1982.
She is survived by a son Stephen Parenteau of Lincoln, along with two grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer. She was the sister of the late Emile & Andrew Przybylo.
Alan J. Maston
NORTH PORT, FL- Alan J. Matson, 64, passed away on October 26, 2013 at St. Petersburg VA Hospital.
Alan was a Vietnam Veteran.
He will be missed by son Alan, daughter Amy, brother Michael and sisters Kathy and Ann.
He has completed his last mission.
Louis J. Caron
WOONSOCKET- Louis J. Caron 85, of Poplar St., formerly of Bernon St. died peacefully with his daughters by his side, on Sunday November 17, 2013, at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Muriel P. (Biron) Caron, with whom he celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary, June 6, 2013.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Cyrille and Marie Flore (Genest) Caron.
