WOONSOCKET- Pauline J. Trudeau, 74, of Woonsocket and formerly of Central Falls, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013. She was the wife of the late Armand Trudeau.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Adeline (Lemieux) Paul.
Pauline lived in Central Falls before moving to Woonsocket for 10 years ago.

WOONSOCKET- Charlotte (Lambert ) Guertin, 88, died on November 1, 2013 at The Holiday in Manville, RI. She was the wife of the late Armand R. Guertin.
Born in Woonsocket, February 24, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Georgianna (Gervais) Lambert and sister of the late Claire Leclerc, Pearl Dumas and Robert Lambert.

BELLINGHAM- Clement Brisson, 88, of Bellingham, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 2, 2013 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia J. (Gabrielson) Brisson deceased on July 21, 2009. They were married in November of 1947 and together for 61 years of love and happiness.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on June 2, 1925, Clement was the son of the late Alfred and Rose Alba (Laliberte) Brisson.

NOFOLK- Gerard A. Riendeau, 82, of Main Street, Nofolk, formerly of Woonsocket, passed peacefully on October 23, 2013 in Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation, Franklin. He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Cronin) Riendeau.
Born in Woonsocket on June 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Adelard and Rose (Massacotte) Riendeau.

Polling locations, time for Tuesday's elections in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET – The city will open 11 polling places in citywide elections for mayor and City Council tomorrow, according to Estelle Corriveau, manager of the Board of Canvassers.

SMITHFIELD- William L. Bourgault Jr, "Bill" 66, passed on November 1st at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. He was the husband of Lucille (Tremblay) Bourgault.
He was the son of the late William L. Bourgault Sr. and Annette (Ouellette) Bourgault.
Bill was the proprietor of Rycourt Metal Fabricators for 20 years. He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War serving aboard the USS Intrepid.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Florence J. (Brunelle) Kafalas, 93, Wilks Ave., died October 20, 2013 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Constant C. Kafalas.
Born in Linwood, MA, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Anna (Poulin) Brunelle.
Mrs. Kafalas was an employee of Amperex, No. Smithfield, for many years, retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, enjoyed reading and cooking and loved animals.

Voters to get their say at the ballot box tomorrow

WOONSOCKET – You’ve heard the rhetoric, you’ve listened to the ads, you’ve seen the signs. Now it’s almost time to choose the candidates who will serve as mayor and members of the City Council for the next three years.

After one of the most spirited contests in years, voters will choose between incumbent Mayor Leo T. Fontaine and State Rep. Lisa Baldelli-Hunt when the polls open tomorrow at 8 a.m. City elections are non-partisan, but for what it’s worth, Fontaine is a Republican who is seeking his third term. Baldelli-Hunt is a Democrat who has served in the House since 2006.

Cumberland squads finish fourth at state meet, earn return trips to New Englands

FOSTER – All season long, Amy Laverty carried Cumberland High on her slender shoulders. Sunday at the Rhode Island High School Cross Country Championships that took place at Ponaganset High, the sophomore was the recipient of a little help from her Clipper teammates.
The Cumberland girls ended up placing five runners inside the top 50, such a strong showing resulting in a fourth-place finish in the team standings and a coveted spot in next weekend’s New England Championships in Manchester, N.H. As usual, Laverty was the Clippers’ top point getter, finishing eighth with a time of 19:05.

LINCOLN — Like most coaches, Lincoln High chief John D’Aloisio admitted being more relieved than thrilled after his club celebrated an incredibly well-played, physical but nonetheless thrilling 2-1 shootout victory over East Greenwich in a R.I. Division Tournament quarterfinal on Saturday night.
“You really can’t enjoy it until the whole thing is finished,” he confessed with a smile, referring to the fact his Lions still need to furnish two triumphs to capture the state title in which they’ve all been longing.
