WOONSOCKET- Richard A. Morin, 87, of Woonsocket, died Friday, August 9, 2013 in the Friendly Home. He was the husband of Florence J. (Allard) Morin, whom he married May 21, 1955.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Aime J. and Adele (Lizotte) Morin.
Maurice O. Rondeau
WOONSOCKET- Maurice O. "Moe" Rondeau, 74, of East Woonsocket, died Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Jeannine C. (Deziel) Rondeau, whom he married on May 28, 1960.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Gertrude (Mandeville) Rondeau of Woonsocket and the late Edmond Rondeau.
John J. Giguere
LAKELAND, FL- John J. Giguere, 82, of Lakeland, FL, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
Lawrence J. Rochefort
CUMBERLAND- Lawrence J. Rochefort, 81, of Cumberland, died Friday, August 9, 2013 in his home. Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Rosario and Sarah (Flanagan) Rochefort. He lived in Woonsocket for most of his life prior to moving to Florida in 2004.
Lawrence was a 1949 graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in Africa during the Korean War. Lawrence owned Environmental Projects Associates, Inc., Woonsocket, retiring in 1994. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
WRENTHAM- Barbara (Witusynsky) Babicky 87, of Wrentham, died peacefully, Friday August 9, 2013 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, following an illness.
Born January 15, 1926, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island a daughter of the late Harry and Tekla (Pelek) Witusynsky, she was a former resident of Franklin and North Attleboro, before moving to Wrentham.
Barbara was raised and educated in Woonsocket, and also attended the former Hill College. She worked for many years as a kitchen aide at the Wrentham Development Center.
Austin W. Schobel
BURRILLVILLE- Austin W. Schobel, 34, resident of Mapleville, RI died August 8, 2013.
He was the loving son of Norman & Brenda (Proulx) Schobel of Mapleville.
Austin worked as a carpet installer in the Northern RI area. He lived most of his life in Burrillville. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox. He enjoyed being with his children and family.
Cecile G. Tessier
NO. SMITHFIELD- Cecile G. (Goyette) Tessier, 85, a resident of the Villa at St. Antoine, No. Smithfield, died Friday, August 9, 2013 in her home. She was the wife of the late Claude G. Tessier, whom she married February 7, 1948.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Sylvia (Tessier) Goyette.
Mary Ellen Mercure
BLACKSTONE- Mary Ellen Mercure of Blackstone, MA passed away on August 6, 2013.
She is survived by her son Gary and daughter-in-law Sam, her grandsons Dylan and Julius, her sister Linda Orlando and brother James Ciccone, her niece and nephews, Gina Orlando, Mark Orlando and Brian Orlando-Reno, and her grand-nephews Christian, Dominic and Noah.
Mary Ellen was born in Blackstone but lived most of her life in Woonsocket, RI.
BURRILLVILLE â€“ Four years after it was shut down because of incidents of misconduct, the town has reopened the Burrillville skate park at a new location on Chapel Street in Harrisville.
Town officials are banking on the new location, which has better visibility and is away from school buildings and residential homes, to eliminate the kinds of incidents that forced the original park to close back in 2009.
