Frances A. Hennigan
CUMBERLAND- Frances A. Hennigan, 74, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. She was the wife of James G. Hennigan. They were happily married for forty eight years.
Born in Westerly, RI, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Murphy) Spry.
Mrs. Henningan had lived in Jamestown before moving to Cumberland forty three years ago. She was a member of the Cumberland Seniors and volunteered with the Cumberland Figure Skating Program. She enjoyed painting and knitting.

PROVIDENCE – After 17 long and frequently contentious years of political and legislative struggle, Rep. Gordon Fox, the first openly gay Speaker of the House, brought down his gavel Thursday and announced that the bill to allow same-sex marriage in Rhode Island passed by an overwhelming 56-15 vote.
WOONSOCKET – The police announced three arrests this morning in a string of bomb threats that have disrupted classes at Woonsocket High School on four out of the last eight school days.
During an impromptu press briefing outside WHS, Detective Jamie Paone told reporters that Khalil Oliver, 18, and two juveniles, one girl and one boy who are 16 or younger, were responsible for the incidents. All students at WHS, the three are facing one count each of making a bomb threat in a public building and conspiracy, both felonies. More arrests could come before the end of the day, she said.
GLOCESTER – A lack of leadership and a dwindling volunteer base could be the death knell for Glocester’s annual July 4th Ancients and Horribles Parade after 86 consecutive years.
The Ancients and Horribles Parade Committee, which has seen many of its members resign or lose interest over the years, no longer has enough voting members to hold a legal meeting, which means there’s a real possibility there will be no parade this year.

Vincent Gesualdi
CUMBERLAND- Vincent Gesualdi, 73, of Heroux Blvd., died April 28, 2013 in North Attleboro, MA. He was the husband of the late Eileen O. (Dubois) Gesualdi.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Francisco and Rosaria (Decotis)Gesualdi.
He was a 1957 graduate of Woonsocket High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Bryant University in 1972. Vincent worked for many years as a traffic managerfor Union Wadding Co., Pawtucket, retiring in 2005. He served in the United States Navy and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Joseph Rene Frappier
VERO BEACH, FL- Joseph Rene Frappier, 81, died in Vero Beach, Florida April 12, 2013.
He was born in Woonsocket, RI December 2, 1931 to Asmond and Anne Marie (Rivard) Frappier.
He leaves a sister, Marcienne Vilt of Woonsocket, RI
Janet Poirier
LINCOLN- Janet Lajoie Poirier, 68, of Lincoln, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday at Landmark Medical Ctr. in Woonsocket.
Born, April 14, 1945 in Marlborough, MA. she was the daughter of the late Hughie & Nancy (Carter) Lajoie.

LINCOLN — Mount St. Charles sophomore Jon Blanchette usually teams with classmate Ethan Guevremont at the No. 1 doubles slot, but he discovered just before stepping on the High Ridge Swim and Tennis Club courts Tuesday afternoon that he wouldn’t.
Head coach Sean McClelland had a promotion of sorts in mind for him, as he had learned earlier in the day that his top singles player, senior Jack Ricci, couldn’t attend school due to illness.
LINCOLN – A crowd of players engulfed the craps table as dealer Sam Hasney announced the cutoff for more bets.
“Bets set,” he said. “Shooter’s looking for four. Four wins.”
“C’mon Nick,” somebody cheered as an oversized pair of red dice tumbled across the green felt pit of the craps deck.

WOONSOCKET – A fire, possibly fueled by the area’s dry conditions, heavily damaged a single-family home at 133 Spring Water Drive Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, discovered by neighbors at about 2:15 p.m. appeared to have begun near the front section of the home and consumed a deck porch and front exterior wall before firefighters arrived on scene.
