WOONSOCKET- Doris H. (St. Germain) Berard, 77, formerly of Thomas St., died Friday June 28, in Oakland Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Blackstone, MA, a daughter of the late Albert and Eva (Soucy) St.Germain.
She worked in geriatric transport for the Lakeview Nursing Home for many years, retiring in 1996.

WOONSOCKET- Elizabeth G. Gariepy, 92, of Woonsocket passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was the wife of the late J. Leo Gariepy.
Born in South Barre, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Lydia (Huot) Martel.
Mrs. Gariepy had lived in Bellingham, MA before moving to Woonsocket in 1988.

BLACKSTONE- Carol A. (Tycks) Karakehian, 65, of Blackstone, MA. passed away on Wednesday June 26th at her residence she was the loving wife of David M. Karakehian.
Born Dec. 31, 1947 in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. & Bertha (Uruski) Tycks.
She resided in Blackstone for many years. Carol was employed at the S.M.T.C. Manufacturing Co. as a assembler in Franklin, MA. previously she was a Data-Processor for the former Tupperware Co.

PAWTUCKET — On one hand, the phrase “birds of a feather flock together” seems applicable to the scouting contingent that showed up in droves last weekend at McCoy Stadium.
The section behind home plate became known as an open-air baseball boardroom; one PawSox game featured as many as nine scouts. Remember, the July 31 non-waiver deadline is not that far off – four weeks from Wednesday to be exact.

Police retiree sues over budget commission cuts

WOONSOCKET – As the Budget Commission continued to tie up the loose ends of its five-year solvency plan, a legal challenge has surfaced to a central component involving cuts in retiree health benefits.
A hearing is scheduled for this morning in Superior Court on former policeman Glen Hebert’s request to enjoin the commission from altering his health care benefits, said his lawyer Edward C. Roy Jr.

Family searches for young son’s ‘best friend’

CUMBERLAND – Kayden Watson calls it his “Monkey Friend,” a worn-out monkey blanket that has been his comfort keepsake since birth and his constant companion during 11 surgeries to repair gastroschisis, a congenital abdominal wall defect.
Kayden, 2½, lost his monkey blanket Saturday during a family outing at the Dairy Queen in North Attleboro and his mother is asking for the public’s help in finding it.
“This is Kayden’s best friend. We have searched high and low and are hoping someone may have picked it up,” says Jennifer Harken of Cumberland.

WOONSOCKET- Richard R. Beauchemin, 57, of Mill St. died Thursday at home. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of Armand Beauchemin and Therese (Fontaine) Beauchemin.
He worked as an extrusion molder of plastics for many years for the AT Cross Company in Lincoln.

WOONSOCKET- Sandra E. Nelson, 66, of Greene St., died suddenly Sunday, June 30, 2013 in her home.
Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Elwood E. and Clara B. (Davis) Nelson, and had lived in Boston most of her life.
She worked as a technician for Honeywell and had previously worked for General Scanning and Laser Science, Inc. Sandra enjoyed photography and had begun attending St. James Episcopal Church.

DOUGLAS, MA- Brian E. Dearborn, 57, of Bluebird Lane, died Friday June 28, 2013 at home. He was the former husband of Maryanne (Cybulski) Dearborn, of Millville, Ma.
Born in Providence, R.I. son of the late Wade B. and Julia (Rossini) Dearborn.
Brian worked as a Letter carrier for the Woonsocket Postal Service for 28 years prior to retiring.
He was a United States Marine Veteran.
