City man charged with dealing synthetic painkiller linked to epidemic of heroin overdoses

WOONSOCKET – A local man has been arrested on federal charges of distributing fentanyl and street heroin laced with the synthetic painkiller, which has been linked to a dramatic spike in fatal overdoses.

JOHNSTON — Burrillville High head coach Kevin Randall seemed cautiously confident before his squad took on league-unbeaten East Greenwich in a R.I. Division III Tournament quarterfinal on Wednesday night.
“We played them earlier this season, and we were down six at the half, but then our big man (junior Isaiah DeSilva) got in foul trouble,” he stated as the players warmed up. “We've got to keep Isaiah on the floor, because he's going to have to cover a house (in EG senior center Brandon) Eckles.”

UXBRIDGE- Noella (Dalbec) Beaudoin, 92, formerly of Main St., died Tues. March 4, 2014 in the St. Camillus Health Center, Whitinsville. She was the wife of the late Henry A. Beaudoin who died in 1981.
Visiting hours will be Sat. March 8, 2014 from 9:30- 10:30 AM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Uxbridge.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Sat. March 8, 2014 at 11 AM in the Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood Ave., Uxbridge.

WOONSOCKET- Gerard A. Cartier, 90, a resident of Wyndemere Woods in Woonsocket, RI and World War II Navy veteran who served in Northern Africa, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence RI. He was the husband of the late Lucille (Bilodeau) Cartier with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 13, 2007.
Born June 2, 1923, in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Donat and Marie Rose (Gregoire) Cartier.
