Coffee and ballet go together

LINCOLN – Tucked away down a winding path off of Sherman Avenue rests the jewel of ballet in the state, a gem which is celebrating its emerald anniversary.

The State Ballet of Rhode Island is commemorating its 55th performing season, and through each of its six decades, it can truly be called a family heirloom. Executive Director Ana Marsden Fox is continuing the tradition started by her parents in 1958 and continued through the years by her mother, Artistic Director Herci Marsden.

Woonsocket homeless shelter nearly full

WOONSOCKET – With the first cold snap of the season settling in, the city’s only emergency shelter for single men expects to be operating at full capacity for the first time since last winter.
The Sanctuary Shelter, in the basement of Harvest Community Church, located at 60 North Main St., may even be forced to refer some unexpected guests to other facilities, says Steve Bacon, associate pastor of the church. The seasonal emergency shelter marked the start of its 13th year on Nov. 1

WOONSOCKET - Doris H. Benoit 92, of Ruskin Ave. died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Rene Benoit. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna (Grenon) Hand.
Doris worked at Miller Electric for many years. She also worked at the Senior Center for over ten years before she retired.

WOONSOCKET - Yvette Dufault, 73, of Greene Street, died Tuesday November 11, 2014, in the Friendly Home with her family by her side.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Wilfred and Clara (Rousseau) Dufault.
Yvette enjoyed listening to music and watching television.
She is survived by three sisters, Jeannette Lavallee, Georgette Lebron, and Pauline Cotnoir, and her husband Paul, all of Woonsocket, RI. And several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five siblings, Conrad, Alfred, Eugene, Wilfred, and Rita Almeida.

NASHUA, NH - Sylvio Rossi, 85, of Nashua, N.H., passed away following a long illness on November 10, 2014. He was born in Woonsocket, R.I., on March 8, 1929, the son of Thomas and Cleonice(Pettine) Rossi.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Constance (Pepin) Rossi with whom he was married for almost 60 years, and his two children Dr. Thomas Rossi of Marblehead, MA, and Roberta Rossi Valentine of The Woodlands, TX, and his three grandchildren, Quinn Valentine, Mia Rossi and Silvio Rossi. He had three loved sisters, Lydia Rossi (predeceased), Rita Rossi and Ella(Rossi)Pedro.

SLATERSVILLE - Lori P. DeVaudreuil 36, of Ridge Rd, died Tuesday in Roger Williams Medical Center. She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of Armand and Susan (Patrice) DeVaudreuil, and was a lifelong Slatersville resident. She was a personal and professional advocate of people with intellectual disabilities for many years. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews. Her quick wit will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
