WOONSOCKET - Roger A. Plante, 59, of Woonsocket, RI died suddenly on Saturday, December 20, 2014.
Roger was born and raised in Bellingham, MA to the late Cecile and Horace (Pete) Plante on April 6, 1955. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1973 with honors. He then pursued his lifelong dream of being a cross country truck driver. His driving career spanned over the next 30 years of his life.
COLUMBIA, TN - Sandra "Sandy" Lamoureux, 63, a resident of Cayce Lane in Columbia, TN, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the later Lawrence and Agnes Desrosiers and wife of the late Robert W. Lamoureux. She was retired from Centerstone in TN.
CUMBERLAND - Helen Borozny, 97, of Cumberland died Monday morning at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. She was the loving wife of the late Michael Borozny, Sr. who died in 1971.
Mrs. Borozny was born and raised in Providence and upon her marriage moved to Cumberland where she resided for over 75 years.
Helen was a dedicated homemaker when raising her family and later worked for Health-Tex in Cumberland. She was a talented cook and enjoyed gardening and keeping up her skills through word-find and crossword puzzles.
Carlo Mencucci, Sr.
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Carlo Mencucci, Sr., 89, of East Old Greenville Rd., North Smithfield, died December 19, 2014 in St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Mary (Urrico) Mencucci. Bornin Fano, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Guila (Mariani) Mencucci. He came to this country as a boy of 8 years with his mother.
Robert J. Mikula
CUMBERLAND - Robert J. Mikula 58, of Lenox Street, passed away Saturday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Edwin and Eleanor M. (Obuchon) Mikula. He was lifelong resident of Cumberland.
He is survived by his brother Anthony E. Mikula of Blackstone, MA., and his sister Elaine George of Cumberland. Three nephews Michael, Matthew and Peter Mikula, two nieces Crystal and Shannon George and one great niece Alana Riendeau.
Henry E. Krupa
NEWPORT - Henry Ernest Krupa, 90, of Newport, RI, beloved husband of Mary Y. (Farland) Krupa, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. He was born in Fall River, MA, on Aug. 21,1924 to the late Luke & Barbara Krupa.
Henry served in the US Navy
for 21 yrs. as Aviation Machinist Mate with duty stateside in CA & KS; overseas in Guadalcanal and the South Pacific, earning recognition for meritorious performance in servicing fighter squadrons. Henry also worked at General Motors, Bancroft and in general contracting.
Robert H. Gendron
LINCOLN - Robert H. Gendron, 69 of Old River Road, passed away on Friday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the beloved husband of Debra J. (Carosi) Gendron.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late George and Beatrice (Fromont) Gendron. He resided in Lincoln for over 2 years previously residing in Harrisville, RI.
Mr. Gendron was the owner of Gendron Financial Services for 36 years.
Agnes R. Latour
WOONSOCKET - Agnes R. Latour, 98, previously of Mendon Road, died Friday, December 19, 2014 in the Ballou Home. She was the wife of the late Ernest Latour.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Lida (Aubuchon) St.Laurent.
Mrs. Latour had worked as a LPN in Woonsocket, retiring in 1981.
She is survived by her son, Robert Latour and his wife Patricia of Fort Mill, SC and her daughter Barbara Conley and her husband David of Norfolk, MA, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother and four sisters.
WOONSOCKET â€“ City police were reported on Sunday to have arrested three suspects in connection with a series of armed bank ATM robberies in the city and nearby Massachusetts last week.
The arrests were made following the pursuit of a vehicle believed used in the armed robberies into nearby Uxbridge Saturday afternoon, where it was stopped by police from that community.
WOONSOCKET – Paced by two goals off the stick of Brandon McMillen and a 20-save performance by goaltender Leo Lake, Cumberland topped Burrillville High, 4-2, on Friday night at Adelard Arena.
Twenty-four hours later, the Clippers notched a 4-0 shutout of North Kingstown, led by another 20-save night from Lake and goals from four different players.
