BRISTOL, Conn. – Perhaps 30 minutes after the Cumberland American All-Stars had sustained a 5-3 walk-off loss to Fairfield American of Connecticut on Tuesday night, manager Dave Belisle conducted a meeting in the team dorm.
In essence, he told his bunch to keep their heads up, that they had played well in the defeat and to believe in themselves as they always did.
PAWTUCKET â€“ Manager Kevin Boles doesnâ€™t pretend to be unaware of the fact that his Pawtucket Red Sox are now in the throes of a pennant race, something that in recent years has been an annual staple of August baseball around these parts.

Lucille C. Ryan
BLACKSTONE - Lucille C. (St. Jean) Ryan, 81, of Blackstone died August 5th at Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Michael Ryan who died in 2005.
She was born in Woonsocket, RI; daughter of the late Leo and Antoinette (DeCelles) St. Jean. She was raised in Woonsocket and attended St. Claire's High School.
Mrs. Ryan and her late husband owned & operated the former Ryan's Variety store on Main St. in Blackstone. She had also been employed at various times by U.S. Rubber, Tech Industries and S.M.O.C.
William F. Egan IV
WOONSOCKET - William F. Egan IV, 65 of Chester St. died August 3, 2014 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Charlene (White) Egan. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late William F. Egan III and Blanche (Rondeau) Larochelle.
Rose E. Myette
BURRILLVILLE - Rose E. Myette 102, of Oakland RI, passed away August 4, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Oakland RI, a daughter of the late Pierre & Celina (Ferron) Myette.
Rose owned and operated the former Little Rose Shop in Woonsocket, she dedicated her life in helping little Rose Ferron during her life, and she also built a shrine at her home for her. She was a lifelong Oakland resident.

BRISTOL, Conn. – Cumberland American’s All-Stars had inflicted a lot of pain to opponents with three walk-off hits on their road here to the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center.
On Tuesday afternoon, they shockingly were on the receiving end.

BELLINGHAM, MA - Theresa J. (Gagne) Desmarais, 66, of Bellingham, MA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 2, 2014 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond D. Desmarais. Born in Woonsocket, RI on January 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Lucille (Champagne) Sullivan and Francis Sullivan.
She was the loving mother of Raymond D. Desmarais, Jr. and his wife, Shaylyn, and Tammy A. Manning and her fiancĂ©, Darryll Brown, all of Bellingham, MA.

BLACKSTONE - Robert J. Laperle Sr. 67, of Blackstone, MA died July 30, 2014 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Nancy (Antaya) Laperle. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Richards) Laperle.
