“He got that nickname because he’s a machine – at the plate, on the mound and in the field,” said Lincoln All Stars head coach Charlie Hien of his younger brother and star pitcher/shortstop, Randall Hien, on Friday.
Gladys S. Surbuts
BURRILLIVILLE - Gladys S. Surbuts, 90, of Harrisville, RI, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on July 3, 2014 at the Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Pascoag.
She was the loving wife of 67 years to George Surbuts.
She was born in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of the late James & Bertha (Andrew) Shaw.
Brian P. Lizotte
WOONSOCKET - Brian P. Lizotte, 56, died peacefully at Trinity Health Center on June 20, 2014. He was a Master Sergeant and Military Police in The National Guard. He was also a Mailman for the City of Woonsocket and was also a Town Hall representative for the town of Blackstone, Massachusetts.
Mr. Lizotte, was the son of Peter Lizotte and Lucille Lizotte Savage. Mr. Lizotte also leaves behind, a brother, Dennis Shawn Lizotte of Millville, a daughter Denise Martel of Woonsocket and one grandchild. He is laid to rest in Exeter, Massachusetts.
Therese J. Gaunt
WOONSOCKET - Therese J. Gaunt 94, of 100 Front St., died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of the late Clifton Gaunt. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Emelie (Frechette) Charest. Therese worked in several area textile mills including the Bonin Spinning for many years, before moving to California where she owned and operated Rancho Grande Travel Club and traveled the world. She resided in California for twenty years, before moving back to Millville, MA in 1990. She volunteered for numerous organizations throughout her lifetime.
Russell R. Moison
WOONSOCKET - Russell R. Moison, 55, of Fairmount Street, died July 8, 2014 in his home. He was the husband of the late Helen J. (Parenteau) Moison. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Lucille (Legare) Moison of Woonsocket and the late Rene
He worked as a real estate agent for Fontaine Real Estate, Woonsocket. Russell served in the United States Army and was a member of the Italian Workingmen's Club, the Cercle Laurier, and V.F.W. Post 85 here in Woonsocket, he also belonged to the Rhode Island Realtors Association.

LINCOLN â€“ State Police were investigating a Route 99 South crash Wednesday night that was reported to have sent at least two people to Rhode Island hospital, one in critical condition.
The crash near the Sayles Hill Road ramps that was described as a rollover and possibly involving more than one vehicle resulted in Route 99 south being closed to motorists just after 10 p.m. Traffic caught on the blocked road was allowed to return to the Woonsocket entrance of the highway where units from Lincoln and Woonsocket had sealed it from travelers.
PROVIDENCE â€“ A new General Assembly law signed by Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee on July 3 is requiring municipal fire departments to conduct more extensive criminal background checks of new applicants for positions in their departments.
The new background check rules would also require the fire department employee candidates to have a fingerprint check done at their expense with the fingerprint records being destroyed immediately upon completion of the background check, according to the legislation.

He was the husband of Robin (Harpin) Gagnon, of Pawtucket, R.I.
Born in Woonsocket, son of Jeannette (Desrochers ) Gagnon, of Woonsocket, and the late Robert Lâ€™Esperance
He was veteran of the United States Army.
David worked as a clerk, for Vieolia in Stoughton, MA. prior to becoming disabled.

BURRILLVILLE - Barbara J. (Pinchback) Carter, 86, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014. She was the husband of the late Dr. Ulysses T. Carter, Jr.
