NORTH SMITHFIELD â€” Six Bryant University students spent a portion of their fall 2014 semester putting into practice what theyâ€™ve learned in their business class to help the Friends of the North Smithfield Animal Shelter.
It was another in a series of service-learning projects undertaken by Bryant students enrolled in "Management Principles and Practice" (Management 200), a course in which students break into teams to work with area nonprofits.
WOONSOCKET â€“ Two men were hospitalized with stab wounds, and a third was detained for questioning after an altercation on Memorial Drive Friday afternoon, police said.
Detective Sgt. Matt Ryan said one of the victims, a man in his 40s, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with a single stab wound to the chest. Ryan said the wound was serious, but not life-threatening.
Another man in his 20s was transported to Landmark Medical Center with less serious injuries, according to Ryan.

WOONSOCKET – Mount St. Charles got off to a great start in its own Holiday Face-Off Tournament on Friday night, icing Bishop Guertin of Nashua, N.H., 8-3, at Adelard Arena.
Patrick Holmes, Justin D’Abrosca and Tyler Rudek all closed with two tallies, while Dan Allen and Jake Glod each chipped in a goal and two assists and Keith Phaneuf three feeds for the Mounties.
LEO N. FELICE
PASCOAG - Leo N. Felice, 94, formerly of Village Rd., died Friday December 26, 2014 in the Overlook Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Mary (PierDominici) Felice.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Giuseppi and Maria (Ballanti) Felice.
Mr. Felice was self-employed as an oil burner technician , for several years and also worked at Turex Plastic for 6 year and as a custodian for the Woonsocket School System.
He was an avid reader and gardener.
CHARLES O. CARON
WOONSOCKET - Charles O. Caron 93, formerly of Willow St., died December 17, 2014 at the Friendly Home. He was the husband of Florence (Belhumeur) Caron. Born in Canada, he was a son of the late Zephirin and Anna (Fredette) Caron. Mr. Caron was a WWII Army veteran. He was an LPN and worked at Foxboro Mental Hospital for many years retiring in 1986. He also worked part-time at the Embassy Club for many years. Mr. Caron was an avid gardener, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

PUHRUMP, NV - Gerard R. Plante, 82 a resident of Pahrump, NV passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Horizon Health & Rehabilitation Center in Las Vegas, NV, after a brief illness.
JACOB FRANK PHILLIPS
HOPEDALE - Jacob Frank Philips, 20, of Hopedale, died suddenly on December 19, 2014.
Jacob was born July 15, 1994 in Rhode Island and later in life moved to Hopedale, MA. Jake was a wonderful artist and expressed himself in many different mediums. He ran at life with the same enthusiasm as he did when he would run at you as a little guy and knock you to the ground. He loved with his whole heart and would do anything for those he loved.
MARJORIE E. WHEELER
HARRISVILLE - Marjorie E. Wheeler, 89, of Ashton Court, died November 23, 2014 in Fatima Hospital, North Providence. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Breen) Wheeler.
Marjorie worked for the former Blackstone Valley Electric (EUA). She enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casino.
She is survived by her brother, John Wheeler of Blackstone, MA, and her best friend and caregiver, Theresa Toti of Harrisville. She was the sister of the late Donald and Richard Wheeler. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
RUSSELL M. TUCKER
BURRILLVILLE - Russell M. Tucker, 83, died Monday Dec. 22, 2014 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. A resident of Pascoag for many years he was the husband of the late Anna W. (Lynes) Tucker. Born in Providence he was the son of the late William and Esther (Ottinger) Tucker.
