HOPEDALE, MA- Jean Paul Gilbert Laplume, 73, of Hopedale, MA, formerly of Bellingham, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Milford Regional Medical Center.
He was the beloved son of the late Ovila and Germaine (L'Heureux) Laplume.

ALPHARETTA, GA- Pauline V. Gagne, 91, of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Third Ave. Woonsocket, died September 22, 2012 at Halcyon House Hospice, in Atlanta, GA. She was the wife of the late Maurice L. Gagne.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Viola (Bouchard) Muron.

UPDATED: Former suitor comes back for Landmark

WOONSOCKET – Landmark Medical Center has signed an asset purchase agreement (APA) with Prime Healthcare Services of Ontario, Calif, after Boston-based Steward Health Care withdrew its offer for the troubled city hospital.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Prime Healthcare was one of the four hospital entities that bid on Landmark after its first suitor, the now-defunct Caritas Christi network, backed out in late 2010.

When it got to the head coaches, the Broncos’ Susan Burgess looked at the Thunderbolt’s Sarah Knowlton and offered something undecipherable.
Burgess then placed her arm around her and grinned, and Knowlton responded with a smile before the two embraced right at the midfield stripe.

Wal-Mart: No decision on our Woonsocket plans

WOONSOCKET — City residents should not get their hopes too high for the return of a Wal-Mart store to Diamond Hill Road — at least not for now.
A Wal-Mart spokesman on Thursday said no decision has been made regarding the company's former store at Diamond Hill Road and the future use of the site is still under review.

Brien says Casey is violating Hatch Act

PROVIDENCE — Democratic State Rep. Jon Brien of Woonsocket yesterday filed a federal complaint challenging the legitimacy of the candidate who defeated him in the primary, Woonsocket firefighter Stephen M. Casey.
Brien said Casey is in violation of a law known as the Hatch Act, which prohibits employees of state, county and municipal governments from engaging in partisan political activities if their employers receive federal funds.

WOONSOCKET- Germaine (Latour) Lemoine, 66 of 2033 Mendon Road, Cumberand, previously residing on New River Road, Manville, passed away Wednesday at home. She was the wife of Roland Lemoine, they had been married for the past 47 years.
Born in Woonsocket, and she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Dora (Courtis) Latour. She resided in Cumberland for the past 6 years, previously residing in Manville.
Mrs. Lemoine was a solderer for Mini-Systems Inc. of North Attleboro for 13 years, previously employed by EMC Inc. of Woonsocket.
