WARWICK -- Talk about deja vu!
For the second straight night, Mount St. Charles Academy found itself trailing by a 2-0 score in the early stages of its Division I semifinal-round game with La Salle Academy on Saturday.
For the second straight night, the Mounties shook off their rivals’ superb start and came back to knot the contest and force a 7½-minute overtime session.
And for the second straight night, the Mounties prevailed in OT.
Most veterans know that the Disabled American Veterans organization exists. Many of them do not know that the DAV can be their best friend and a major advocate when they seek benefits later on in life from disabilities that can be linked to their time in the U.S. military.
“The sad part is a lot of veterans, especially Vietnam veterans, don’t know what’s available to them (in terms of benefits from the Veterans Administration),” said Rick Vaccari, a DAV supervisor.
The CALL is seeking photos of Blackstone Valley military veterans, whether they served in war zones or not. Please send photos to our email box: veterans@woonsocketcall.com or drop them off in the Veterans mail basket located on the front desk of The CALL's office at 75 Main St., Woonsocket.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – It's bad enough that Mount St. Charles Academy had to contend with another strong outing from Prout School standout Emily Caswell in Saturday's Division II state finals.
But it also had to deal with its worst offensive showing of the season.
Caswell poured in a team-best 20 points. Along with her effort and a stifling Crusaders' defense, Mount saw its spectacular winter campaign on the hardwoods come to a crashing halt inside the Ryan Center with a overwhelming 40-24 loss.
State Rep. Ryan Fattman showed up dressed for the occasion Thursday, serving as guest host of the 2nd annual St. Patrick's Day luncheon for seniors, held at the Bellingham Senior Center. The event was sponsored by the Bellingham Police Association and featured a traditional corned beef dinner provided by the Coachmen’s Lodge, of Bellingham.
WOONSOCKET – The School Department may have to take another look at its 2011-12 school budget after getting figures on Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s state aid for schools during the same period.
Chafee on Tuesday released information on his proposed state budget for 2011-12 that may end up penalizing the local district even while increasing its overall award of state aid.

NORTH SMITHFIELD –Mount St. Charles didn’t need any extra time to settle the issue on this particular night.
A dominating first period gave the Mounties all the offense they would need on Friday as they swept North Smithfield in their best-of-3 Division I semifinal series with a 5-2 victory at the R.I. Sports Center. Samantha Smith and Erin Rouleau each scored and had an assist as the defending state champions return to familiar territory.
WOONSOCKET --- When La Salle Academy jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first six minutes of Friday night’s series-opening game with Mount St. Charles Academy, the Mounties and their fans were feeling a bit uneasy and restless.
It was the Rams who dealt the Mounties their lone loss of the regular season -- a 3-0 defeat back on Feb. 4 -- and it was the fourth-seeded Rams who came out determined to knock off the top-seeded, three-time defending champions.
