Cumberland stays alive at Little League World Series on Davock’s walk-off double

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — As 10,732 eyes stared at him and millions more watched worldwide, Cumberland’s shortstop/pitcher CJ Davock blocked it all out.
 
It was just he and the pitcher. The frustration of an inning earlier was gone. An opportunity awaited and redemption was at hand.
 
Davock pounded on it, earned it and kept a dream alive.

Interim school chief resigns

WOONSOCKET – Citing personal reasons, Interim Schools Supt. James A. DiPrete tendered his resignation Thursday, school officials and members of the Budget Commission said.

DiPrete, 77, a longtime educator and retired chairman of the former state Board of Regents, had been hired on June 19 to work for up to 70 days for $750 a day.

He was the loving husband of 51 years to Jane (Stefanak) Desautell.
He was born in Pascoag, RI, son of the late Albert & Eileen (Mahar) Desautell.

WOONSOCKET - Jeannine D. Cesaroni, 71, of Kenwood St. died Wednesday August 13, 2014 in Landmark Medical Center. She was the husband of Elmo Cesaroni. Elmo and Jeannine were married for 53 years.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Aime and Rosealba (Boudreault) Ferron.
Jeannine was a graduate of Arthur Angelo's School of Hair Design, and worked as a hairdresser for Dot's Beauty Salon and also worked as a Realtor for Elmo Cesaroni Realty and also for Jostin Ring Co, prior to retiring.

Landmark back in UnitedHealthcare network after lapse of more than seven months

WOONSOCKET – UnitedHealthcare and Landmark Medical Center have ironed out a new contract that restores 52 physicians with admitting privileges at the hospital to the health insurer’s coverage network, the parties announced.
UnitedHealthcare dropped Landmark from its coverage network after the hospital was purchased last year by the for-profit, California-based hospital chain, Prime Healthcare Services.
The two parties have been trying to firm up a new contract since.

Henderson selected as WHS principal

WOONSOCKET — Carnell Henderson, 41, has always had a goal of doing something more since he was a student at Woonsocket High School and member of the graduating class of 1991.

Back then, he will tell you today, there wasn’t a concrete plan of what “more” would be, but Henderson just knew from the support he had received from his family, his coaches, and his teachers in school he would some day be involved in the leadership of his community.
