Debt exclusion override highlights Oct. 10 STM

BELLINGHAM — Voters at an Oct. 10 Special Town Meeting will take up a 23-article warrant that includes a debt exclusion override to raise taxes to pay for a $15.4 million water treatment project.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 60 Blackstone St.

Autumnfest ’12 almost wasn’t

WOONSOCKET – You won’t be able to tell from watching the parade on Columbus Day, but Autumnfest Chairman Timothy Paul says he wasn’t always sure there was going to be one this year.
A former police detective who is serving his second stint as chairman of the city’s premier civic bash, Paul revealed in an interview with The Call that he commissioned a forensic audit of the non-profit organization earlier this year because its financial records were in disarray.

MYSTIC, CT- Francis H. Roberts, Sr., 89, of New London Rd., Mystic, CT and formerly of Woonsocket, died September 24, 2012 in The Holiday, Lincoln. He was the husband of the late Margaret Theresa (Walker) Roberts.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late George and Johanna (Howard) Roberts.

MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA- Dorothy (Vaudrin) Linton died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Grand Strand Healthcare, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she had been a resident.
Born August 16, 1927 in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Lena (Landry) Vaudrin.
Mrs. Linton was the wife of the late Edward Linton and had been a life long resident of Woonsocket until 2005 when she moved to South Carolina, near her daughter, Debra Conroy.

WOONSOCKET- Therese (Forand) Corbeille, 80, a life-long Rhode Islander, passed away peacefully on September 22nd due to complications associated with renal failure at Mt. St. Francis/Trinity Health Center in Woonsocket, RI.
She was born May 9, 1932, the seventh of eight children, to Emile and Leonie (Rainey) Forand. Her siblings Rene, Blanche, Alice, Henry, Albert, Leo and Eugene all preceded her in death.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Eva Barnabe 92, of Rhodes Ave, N. Smithfield, died Saturday in the St. Antoine Residence.
She was born in St. Helen de Bagot, PQ, Canada, and was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Delima (Pelletier) Barnabe.
Ms. Barnabe enjoyed gardening and maintaining her camp at Lake Hiawatha.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and was the sister of the late Jean Paul, Theophile, and Camille Barnabe, and the late William and Leo Houle.

WOONSOCKET- Lionel J. Lajoie 79, resident of Woonsocket, passed away September 22, 2012 at Landmark Medical Center.
He was the husband of the late Violet (Tancrede) Lajoie.
He was born in Salem, MA, a son of the late Lionel & Lucia (Brunet) Lajoie.
Lionel was a truck driver for the Interstate Towing Co. also he worked part time for the New England Country Club. He was a veteran of Korea; he was one of the last salvage divers in RI from the war.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Roger R. Rainville, 73, resident of North Smithfield, passed away on September 24, 2012 at Landmark Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Rose (Riendeau) Rainville.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Joseph Rainville and Florina (Carpentier) Taccone.
Roger was a carpenter for many years and a self employed carpenter formerly of REM Construction.

WOONSOCKET- Raymond E. Germain, 66, of Carrington Ave. passed away on September 20th.
He is survived by his daughters Samantha Germain of Woonsocket & Andrea Northrup of Florida. He also leaves three grandchildren Brandi & Joseph Sousa & Daniell Northrup. He was the son of the late Emile & Florence (Valois) Germain. He was predeceased by his son Jason.
Ray was a veteran of the U.S, Air Force. A lifelong city resident he will be truly missed by everyone.
