Rita M. Galuza

BELLINGHAM- Rita M. (Courtemanche) Galuza, 88, of Bellingham, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Hopkins Manor, North Providence. Her husband of 52 years, Alex Galuza, died in 1998.
Born in Blackstone, MA, she was the daughter of the late Pierre and Florilda (Thibeault) Courtemanche.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Woonsocket, the Ladies of St. Ann's and the former Assumption Church in Bellingham. Rita loved to play tennis, sewing, baking, cake decorating and crafts.

WOONSOCKET- Richard P. Dansereau Sr., 71, of Paradis Ave. died Tuesday September 6, 2011, in the Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Linda (Fregeau) Dansereau.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Conrad and Edna (Kozaczka) Dansereau.
Mr. Dansereau worked as a laborer for Hope Global Co. in Cumberland.

CUMBERLAND- Raymond A. Lemire, 86, resident of Cumberland, formerly of Pleasant St. Bellingham, passed away September 14, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of 61 years to Claire (Defond) Lemire.
Born July 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry and Viola (St. Amant) Lemire.

Ruling may put crimp in pension plan

PROVIDENCE — State employees and schoolteachers “possess implied unilateral contract rights” to their pension benefits, a Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday, keeping alive a lawsuit challenging previous changes made in state pension laws and further complicating ongoing efforts to make more changes that General Treasurer Gina Raimondo says are necessary to avert a fiscal calamity.

Woonsocket Police get seven new cars

WOONSOCKET — Using about $158,000 in drug forfeiture money, the Woonsocket Police Department has ordered seven new vehicles to replace some of the oldest cruisers and detective cars in its fleet. Capt. Kenneth Paulhus said five 2011 Ford Fusions were ordered for the detectives, while the patrol division will get two 2012 Crown Victorias.

NATICK, MA- John H. Luttrell Sr., 87, formerly of Natick, died Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cochituate.
He was born in Woonsocket, R.I., on Nov. 6, 1923, son of the late John M. and Eva (Brouillard) Luttrell, and attended local schools before becoming a newspaper copy boy for the Woonsocket Call.
A veteran of World War II, he served as an intelligence specialist with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater.

WOONSOCKET- Simone P. (Mousseau) Ward, 88, of Achille Street, Woonsocket, a lifelong city resident, died peacefully at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, Sept. 13, 2011, surrounded by the family she loved deeply and devoted her life to.
Simone joins her beloved and eternal husband, Dr. Bernard V. "Vinnie" Ward, a city dentist who passed away May 10, 1988.
She was born Sept. 19, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah (Page) Mousseau.
