WOONSOCKET- Lucienne R. (Ouellette) Levasseur 89, of Woonsocket, died Monday in Oakland Grove Health Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Levasseur.
She was born in Trois Rivieres, PQ Canada, a daughter of the late Lucien and Emelienne (Levesque) Ouellette.
Mrs. Levasseur was a loving wife and mother and a dedicated homemaker.

WOONSOCKET- Pasquale Olivastro, 89, of Tache St. died Tuesday, September 6, 2011. He was the husband of the late Thelma (Glaude) Olivastro.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Paul and Rose (Abatatuano) Olivastro.
Mr. Olivastro worked as a foreman for HP Hood and also as an assembler for Bird Machine Shop for 20 yrs. and as a custodian for the Stadium Theater.
He was a former member of ISECT, and the Woonsocket Senior Center.

BELLINGHAM- James T. "Jim" Daniel, 60, of Bellingham, MA passed away at home on Friday, September 2, 2011 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 30 years of Debra (Niadna) Daniel.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on May 28, 1951, he was the son of John and Simonne (Tancrede) Daniel of St. Petersburg, FL.

Raimondo gives state senators a pension lesson

PROVIDENCE — General Treasurer Gina Raimondo told state senators Monday that she would like to fashion a pension reform plan that would not take benefits away from state employees who have already retired, and thinks she can do it. But she isn’t making any promises.
“We would love to be able get this done without touching accrued benefits,” she said at an informational caucus for the full senate, “so if you’ve earned it, it’s yours, and I think that is possible, that is why we are taking so long to carefully go through the numbers.”

ATOKA FORMERLY OF LINCOLN, RI- Robert Lloyd Dunn III, 61, operations manager for 12 years at Intercraft in Covington, TN and formerly worked for Toray Plastics in N. Kingstown, RI passed away Sept 11, 2011 in Memphis. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968 and Bryant University in Rhode Island; served in the US Navy during Vietnam and for 18 years as a Rhode Island National Guardsman.

More cops may get fired

WOONSOCKET — Three police officers may be fired on administrative charges stemming from the 2009 beating of a 16-year-old boy — a highly publicized incident which already ended the career of another policeman who went to federal prison for assault.
City and police officials declined to confirm this information, but the head of the Woonsocket police union said all three were served with termination notices over a week ago.

Mountie harriers make statement in Northern Division opener

SMITHFIELD — The strategy was simple. Take it moderately easy the first half of the race and when the course hits the woods for the rolling hills, then go to work.
That’s the plan that Mount St. Charles Academy and Smithfield High had entering Monday’s Northern Division opener on the tough three-mile layout at Bryant University.
Both teams carried out those strategies, though the Mounties did it just a little better.

LINCOLN- Yolande R. (Begin) Landry, 82, of School Street, Albion died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Ballou Home, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Raoul J. Landry.
Born In Albion, a daughter of the late Rodolphe and Jeanne (Leroux) Begin, she had lived in Albion most of her life. She had also lived in Oakland and North Smithfield.

Born in Mapleville, she was the daughter of James and Della (Fournier) Cahill.
Eileen was a lifelong resident of Burrillville. She worked as a housekeeper at Zambarano Hospital and as a mender in area mills.
