Shirley Ann Beattie
BURRILLVILLE- Shirley Ann Beattie (Ogni), 72, a lifelong resident of Burrillville, RI, passed away on July 14, 2011, at Saint Antoine Residence in North Smithfield, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her partner Dorothy Sliney of Mapleville, daughters, Carol Beattie of New Bern, NC, Linda Mc Kinley of Pawtucket, and Kym Demers of Oakland, also survived by her 8 grand children and 15 great grandchildren.
Richard R. Smith
WOONSOCKET- Richard R. Smith, 81, died Wednesday, July 13th. Cherished husband of Ann (Grivers) Smith for over 52 years, Richard is survived by his 3 children, Mary Beth Sztabor, David Smith, both of Woonsocket and Jane Soucy of Cumberland. In addition to being a dedicated father, Richard lovingly grandfathered 4 children: Joshua Sztabor, Bethany, Nathaniel and Michael Soucy. Their father Jerry Soucy was honored to be Richard's son in law. He was the brother of the late Stanley, Robert and Shirley Smith and Jean Carpenter.

EAST GREENWICH --- Jamison Randall has already proven in his young career that heâ€™s a golfer with unlimited potential.
On Thursday afternoon at the R.I. Amateur Championship, he also proved he has the heart that goes with it.
Randall wasnâ€™t able to advance to todayâ€™s quarterfinal matches, but the recent Cumberland High grad gave two-time champion Brad Valois all he could handle during match play of the Round of 16 at the Potowomut Country Club.
WOONSOCKET â€” A Blackstone man is in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital after being assisted by passing motorists and rescue personnel at the scene of a fiery single-car crash on Route 99 Thursday afternoon.
John Leclaire, 38, of 198 Farm St., Blackstone, was driving north on Route 99 past Sayles Hill Road just before 1 p.m. when his red Kia Sportage veered suddenly to the right, left the roadway and collided with an outcropping of ledge, according to State Police Lt. Douglas Newberg.
Alice Gagne, SGM
LEXINGTON, MA- Sr. Alice Gagne, SGM (92) died on July 12, 2011 at Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waltham, MA. She had been a Sisters of Charity of Montreal, "Grey Nuns" for 70 years.
Alice was born in St. Patrice, Quebec, Canada November 2, 1918 and later moved to Woonsocket, RI with her family, becoming an American Citizen in 1941. Her parents were Francois Gagne and Adeline (Dumont) Gagne both of St. Patrice.
Carol A. Swenson
DOUGLAS- Carol A. (O'Brien) Swenson, 59, of Douglas passed away on Wed., July 13 from ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Her husband of 27 yrs. David E. Swenson died Nov. 2, 2004.
She is survived by her daughter Kellie A. and her husband Joseph Cooke of Douglas, a granddaughter Audrey Cooke, her long time companion, George Loxley of Chepachet, RI and many close friends.
Born in Woonsocket on June 5, 1952 she was the daughter of John and Lillian (Lavoie) O'Brien and lived in Douglas many years.
Rita M. Almeida
MANVILLE- Rita M. Almeida 89, of Almeida Dr. died Friday July 8, 2011 at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Joaquim Almeida.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Clara (Rousseau) Dufault.
Mrs. Almeida was an assembler for AT Cross Co. for over twenty years. She spent many hours a day walking with her brother the late Eugene Dufault who past June 23, 2011. She also enjoyed knitting.
NORTH SMITHFIELD â€“ Divers recovered the body of a Providence man from the Slatersville Reservoir late Wednesday night after a search that lasted almost three hours.
The body of Johnny Oun, 22, was located at 10:06 p.m. near the base of the Upper Dam, not far from where he was last seen, said North Smithfield Fire Chief Joel Jillson.
Oun was reported missing by several friends with whom he had been swimming, said Police Capt. Bradley Aubin. Oun disappeared after they all jumped off the waterfall together and tried to swim back to shore.
