BURRILLVILLE — Calling it an important next step toward potential regionalization, the Town Council has signed the second part of a four-town intermunicipal agreement that will see Burrillville, North Smithfield, Smithfield and Glocester sharing equipment and personnel in an effort to help those communities reduce costs.
PROVIDENCE — Christopher Callaci never met a necktie he didn't like. He just doesn't like wearing them.
The lawyer for the union that represents nurses and other health care workers at Woonsocket's Landmark Medical Center keeps his ample collection draped over the door of his office, located in a onetime funeral parlor in this city's gritty North End.
With a sliver of crew-neck T-shirt showing through his unbuttoned dress collar, Callaci seems too big for this cluttered workspace, awash in helter-skelter piles of bulging, oxford-brown legal dossiers and loose papers in search of a clip.
PROVIDENCE — It was a match made in heaven (or, more accurately, the Statehouse): Rhode Islanders love the Boston Red Sox and are famously crazy about their license plates. Now they can have the best of both worlds.
Accompanied by Bosox President Larry Lucchino and legislative leaders on Monday, Gov. Lincoln Chafee visited Hasbro Children’s Hospital Monday to sign legislation creating special green license plates patterned after Fenway Park’s Green Monster and carrying the Red Sox logo next to the plate number.
PROVIDENCE --- The Division I state title will come down to one game.
Cumberland High scored early and often and senior ace pitcher Bethany Paul continued her postseason brilliance on the mound in Monday’s championship round against Mount St. Charles Academy at Rhode Island College.
And the final result was a surprisingly-lopsided 15-3 conquest by the fourth-seeded Clippers that not only dealt the ninth-seeded Mounties their first loss of the double-elimination tournament, but set up tonight’s 8 p.m. winner-take-all clash back at RIC.
