WOONSOCKET â Another copper clipper was in the can Thursday morning thanks to a tip from an alert citizen who heard someone rummaging in a vacant house in the Bernon section and called the police, they said.
Elias Herrera, 41, of Woonsocket, was arrested outside 350 Carrington Ave. at 6:19 a.m., said Detective Lt. Eugene Jalette.
âHerrera was captured while attempting to flee from a side entrance,â he said. âInside the house there was evidence that Herrera was removing copper piping.â
BELLINGHAM â Looking back over his lengthy career, Richard F. Ranieri pointed out one overriding concern that any fire chief has when the alarm sounds in the station house.
"You just hope that the day will end without an injury or fatality involving one of your firefighters or a member of the public," Ranieri said. "We are responsible for what happens, and it is a pretty awesome responsibility.â
