Police seize marijuana, cash, silver bars

GLOCESTER – Police seized 47 marijuana plants, approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana and more than $15,000 in cash from the home of a local man Friday.
James A. Kerner, 56, of Gold Mine Road, was arraigned in Third District Court on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and unlawful cultivation of marijuana, both felonies, police said.

City hires watchdog firm for new plant

WOONSOCKET – At a cost of $1.04 million over four years, the city hired a watchdog firm to oversee the planning, design and construction of a new, $36 million wastewater treatment plant.
The Budget Commission voted unanimously Thursday to hire the wastewater consulting firm Weston & Sampson of Peabody, Mass., on the recommendation of Public Works Director Sheila McGauvran.
