WOONSOCKET — In a rare move to handle a personnel action in public session, the School Committee on Wednesday voted unanimously to terminate School Department Finance Director Stacey Busby after hearing a recommendation from School Superintendent Giovana Donoyan supporting the action.
The termination of Busby came after School Committee Chairwoman Anita McGuire-Forcier heard no motion from her peers for a move into closed session to consider the sole personnel matter on the evening's agenda.
A new study released today by HousingWorks RI says Central Falls, Woonsocket and Pawtucket ranked among the top four communities with the highest foreclosure rates from 2009 through 2011, with multi-family homes bearing the brunt of the blow.
WOONSOCKET – Police have charged two city girls with assault with a dangerous weapon, a foot, and two other girls with simple assault over the Saturday afternoon attack on a 12-year-old city girl that was recorded and uploaded to the Internet.
The four suspects are also charged with conspiracy over the assault, according to Juvenile Detective Jamie Paone, investigating officer.
The video-recorded beating outside the Plaza Village apartment complex was reported to involve a victim the assailants knew and then spent Saturday night with after the attack.
