Kitchen vent fire puts nine seniors out of homes

LINCOLN — A kitchen vent fire at the town's Lincoln Manor housing complex on Franklin St. left nine seniors out of their homes on Tuesday.
The fire in a vent serving four apartments in the eight-unit, single-story building was quickly extinguished by local firefighters and none of the senior residents were hurt, according to the town's Housing Authority.

Panel to look over proposed budget

WOONSOCKET — The state-appointed Budget Commission will give an overview of the city's proposed $122 million budget when the panel convenes Thursday afternoon in historic Harris Hall beginning at 3 p.m.
The City Council held a public hearing on the budget plan during its meeting on Monday but deferred its comment to a work session in Harris Hall Thursday evening.
The Council will vote on its recommendation for a budget on Monday, leaving final action on the budget to Budget Commission possibly on June 29, according to City Finance Director Thomas M. Bruce III.
