WOONSOCKET â The final phase of demolition of the former French Worsted mill complex at 153 Hamlet Avenue may be the trickiest of what has been a year-long project at the site.
Coventry Building and Wrecking has demolished and recycled all but a small portion of the five-story woolen thread manufacturing structure built in the early 1900s during Woonsocket's manufacturing heyday.
BLACKSTONE â The water level in the Blackstone River and Canal above the Rolling Dam is now rising, but it may take a few days before levels are back to normal.
That was the latest announcement Thursday from town public works officials who said work conducted at the site yesterday is helping the situation, which is not nearly as dire as it was a few days ago when officials reported that the water level was about six feet lower than normal.

WOONSOCKET â Kayden Watson was still in his motherâs womb when a sonogram foretold the story of his fragile life.
At the age of just 14 weeks, the pictures clearly showed that his intestines were growing on the outside of his tiny body, recalls his mother, Jennifer Harken.
Itâs a condition called gastroschisis.
âWe were told a lot of kids had it and it would be okay, they would put them back,â she says.
