WOONSOCKET — The Rhode Island Business Group on Health (RIBGH), a coalition of more than 70 employers in Rhode Island representing over 50,000 employees, is weighing in on the pending sale of financially-troubled Landmark Medical Center and Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island to Boston-based Steward Health Care System, saying negotiations between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island and Landmark Medical Center/Steward Health Care must abide by several considerations, including establishment of a statewide coordinated health care plan.

Krawetz quits police department

August 15, 2012

LINCOLN — A Lincoln police officer who was found guilty in January of felony battery with a dangerous weapon for kicking a handcuffed woman in the head outside a slot parlor in 2009, has resigned, Lincoln Town Administrator Joseph Almond announced Wednesday.
“Effective Aug. 10, 2012, the Town of Lincoln has accepted an unconditional and irrevocable resignation from Officer Edward Krawetz,” Almond said. “This action has allowed the town to avoid the inherent uncertainty of costly and time-consuming litigation and appeals which would inevitably ensue if this matter remained unresolved.”
