Auger family spruces up memorial garden as thank you to WPD

WOONSOCKET — Family and friends of longtime Woonsocket Police Dispatcher Ron Auger were at the station Thursday evening sprucing up the small garden created in his memory. Ron's mother, Jeanne, said she and her helpers had stopped by on Tuesday to trim the weeping cherry tree planted near her son’s plaque and noticed the area needed a bit more work.

Police report details frightening ordeal

WOONSOCKET – Police on Wednesday released additional details on Sunday’s frightening home invasion on Front Street in which a gun was fired into a couple's bed as the alleged robbers sought information about goods believed to be in the residence.
Patrolman Christopher M. Bouvier reported responding to a 7:08 a.m. call for a home invasion at 620 Front St. and encountered Royce H. Jackson, 28, out in the street dressed in just his underwear.

I-95 reopens in SE Mass. after downed power lines

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) — Interstate 95 has been reopened in North Attleboro after a truck crash brought down power lines on the roadway, closing it for more than two hours and backing up traffic for miles.
Massachusetts State Police said the Thursday afternoon crash happened between Exits 4 and 5 near the Interstate 295 interchange and both northbound and southbound sides of the road were closed to traffic until the power lines could be removed.
