PROVIDENCE — A man awaiting trial on Burrillville police charges of child molestation was recaptured here Wednesday after a week on the lam from home confinement, the state police said.
Robert Spaulding, 34, surrendered after State Police searched for him at his mother’s house and the homes of other relatives and friends.
“His trial was coming up,” said Detective Commander Michael J. Winquist of the state police. “I guess he thought he wasn’t going to be there.”
CUMBERLAND — Mayor-elect Daniel J. McKee took the oath of office at an inaugural ceremony held Jan. 6 in the Blackstone River Theater.
McKee, 61, ran unopposed in the November general election, winning a sixth term as Cumberland's mayor.
Among those attending the ceremony last Sunday were state Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin and Congressman David Cicilline, as well as a contingent of state representatives and fellow mayors and town administrators.
