Woonsocket school board member struck by car

WOONSOCKET — School Committeewoman Anita McGuire-Forcier, a former chair of the panel, was reported to be undergoing treatment at Rhode Island Hospital Wednesday night after being struck by a car in front of the Rhode Island State House.
Forcier, a staunch advocate of the city’s need for added funding for its school children, was reported to have been at the State House to testify at a hearing before the accident occurred.

Gun-wielding gang invades Burrillville home

BURRILLVILLE — Police were investigating a report of gunfire occurring during the robbery of a home at 160 Cherry Farm Road Wednesday evening that did not result in injury to the residents at home during the incident.
Acting Police Chief Lareto P. Guglietta said members of his department were working with Woonsocket Police on the 7:20 p.m. shooting incident and arrests were expected.

Landmark union makes deal

WOONSOCKET — The health workers union at Landmark Medical Center has reached a tentative contract agreement with a New Jersey hospital group whose offer to buy the struggling hospital last November was never considered because it missed a bid deadline.
Landmark Hospital Holdco LLC surfaced after the Superior Court granted exclusive bargaining rights for the assets of Landmark Health Systems to Prime Healthcare Services of California.
