Sen. Whitehouse takes tour of Blackstone Valley

PAWTUCKET – U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse answered questions ranging from federal spending and the national debt, to the need for infrastructure improvements to Obamacare and global climate change from more than 100 area residents who attended a community dinner at the Portuguese Social Club Thursday.

The second-term Democrat said “it is a challenging time to be in Washington” because the nation is only slowly coming out of the recession and the recovery is particularly slow in Rhode Island.

Autumnfest 2013 headliners include Chiffons, Teenagers, other hitmakers

Autumnfest is celebrating 35 years in 2013 and is proud to announce its 2013 headliners.

Saturday night Oct. 12 at 6 Autumnfest presents a Doo Wop Spectacular starring The Legendary Teenagers, The Chiffons, and Dicky Doo and The Don'ts, featuring Gerry Granahan, all performing with the Coast-to-Coast band emceed by Todd Baptista. The show will run from 6-9 p.m. followed by a meet-and-greet with all the performers to allow the public a chance for autographs.
