Local veterans throughout Valley will remember

WOONSOCKET – Carrying on a tradition that they started in 2001, members of the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a remembrance ceremony today marking the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America.

Burrillville teens urged to heed anti-distracted driving lesson

BURRILLVILLE – In a town that had its share of serious accidents over the summer, including a July 11 crash that killed two teenagers, two Burrillville High School educators have joined forces with local police to drive home the message to student drivers about the dangers of distracted driving.

On Sept. 26, the high school will be the host school for the “National Save a Life Tour,” a high-impact distracted driving awareness program that travels around the country to educate students about the dangers of districted driving and driving drunk.

Twin River table game expansion receives the go-ahead

LINCOLN – Twin River officials have received state approval to increase the number of table games at the 100 Twin River Road, state-supervised casino, and may be unveiling a new expansion plan even as casino plans move forward in nearby Massachusetts.

Twin River spokeswoman Patti Doyle confirmed on Tuesday that the casino received permission from the state Lottery Commission last Friday to increase the number of live gaming tables from 66 to 80, but noted a specific plan for an expansion has not yet been finalized.
