Raimondo kicks off gov bid

PAWTUCKET – General Treasurer Gina Raimondo kicked off her bid for governor Monday with a tub-thumping event that directly confronted some of her campaign’s perceived weaknesses: Latinos, organized labor, her connections to Wall Street and her bona fides as a Democrat, and a progressive one at that.

Five arrested as city officers scuffle with late-night revelers

WOONSOCKET – Police officers were kicked, punched in the head and shoved around as they broke up a wild, chaotic party on Rathbun Street Sunday morning.

Four officers were listed as victims of assaults that took place in the third-floor apartment at 79 Rathbun St. shortly after 2:30 a.m.
