School board hears rusty water concerns

WOONSOCKET – The school department is still working to find answers to a rusty water problem at its middle school complex off Hamlet Avenue after parents took their concerns about the problem to the city’s appointed school board Wednesday night.

Alethea Forcier, a member of the middle school PTO, detailed concerns she raised with the City Council on Monday while offering that problem of iron in the water does not appear to have been resolved by the school department’s attempts to flush the two school building’s water lines.

Officials take steps to rid city of eyesore properties

WOONSOCKET -- Call them the ‘Dirty Thirty.’

Some have been damaged by fire, others just plain neglected. Still others are in the fuzzy limbo of foreclosure, neither borrower- nor lender-owned.

What this group of homes has in common is that they’ve soared to the top of the list of residential eyesores in need of most urgent attention. Now they’re about to get some from Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.
