December 1, 2014

WOONSOCKET – Citing safety issues, city Director of Public Works Steve D’Agostino is recommending against opening the municipal skating rink in River Island Park this season.

The artificially-refrigerated rink has struggled with maintenance and repair issues for some time, but this would be the first season it hasn’t opened since it was built in 1999 if D’Agostino’s advice stands.

November 22, 2014

WOONSOCKET – John Chan knows all too well now that when two of your friends are movie co-directors and writers, you just have to go along with what they ask of you.
That’s why the name of Chan’s restaurant, Chan’s Fine Oriental Dining on Main Street, can be seen on the side of a RIPTA bus used in Bobby and Peter Farrelly’s new film “Dumb and Dumber To,” as it cleans up in theaters nationwide.
The RIPTA bus has a role in the film’s slapstick action early on and the advertisement on its side states “Jazz & Blues Live at Chan’s Egg Rolls and Jazz, Woonsocket, R.I.”
