State Rep. Ryan Fattman showed up dressed for the occasion Thursday, serving as guest host of the 2nd annual St. Patrick's Day luncheon for seniors, held at the Bellingham Senior Center. The event was sponsored by the Bellingham Police Association and featured a traditional corned beef dinner provided by the Coachmenâs Lodge, of Bellingham.
WOONSOCKET â The School Department may have to take another look at its 2011-12 school budget after getting figures on Gov. Lincoln Chafeeâs state aid for schools during the same period.
Chafee on Tuesday released information on his proposed state budget for 2011-12 that may end up penalizing the local district even while increasing its overall award of state aid.

WOONSOCKET â Boy, girl â pregnancy can be predictable, but here's something local mothers-to-be probably weren't expecting: an invitation to participate in the largest research study of childhood health â ever.
Thundermist Health Center, a regional hub of obstetric and pediatric care, rolled out the welcome mat Thursday for women who are pregnant or thinking about having a child in the next few years.
WOONSOCKET â A rash of car vandalisms in several city neighborhoods over the past week has police looking for help in identifying anyone who may be responsible for the incidents.

CUMBERLAND â Three local men who allegedly committed the Overhill Road home invasion last month in which a 66-year-old man was injured are in custody after what police called âan intense investigation.â
Christopher Duffy, 18, Kyle English, 20, and Christopher Pascale, 22 â all Cumberland residents â are facing a combined 17 charges, including assault on a person over 60, assault with a deadly weapon in a dwelling house, robbery, conspiracy and receiving stolen goods â a .45-caliber handgun that belonged to the owner of the home.
March 8th
PROVIDENCE â Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien liked a lot of what he heard from Gov. Lincoln Chafee's first major presentation â a combined State of the State address and budget speech.
âIt means $800,000 for Pawtucket this year and $1.6 million next year,â Grebien said in the House of Representatives chamber after the governor spoke. âIt comes with some strings attached, but in this tough economy, this benefits the city and education.â
A contingent of Woonsocket firefighters, including Ladders 1 & 2, responded to Kennedy Manor on Clinton Street after a small fire was reported in a vacant apartment on the seventh floor around 11 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported and the fire was quickly extinguished. See the complete story in Wednesday's edition.

PROVIDENCE â Just days after Col. Brendan Doherty announced his resignation as Superintendent of the State Police, Gov. Lincoln Chafee has selected U.S. Marshal Steven OâDonnell as his replacement.
Chafee introduced OâDonnell as âa leader who has not only met expectations, but continuously exceeded them during a long and distinguished career.â He recalled that, in 1996, then-President Bill Clinton named OâDonnell as one of the nationâs 10 âTop Cops.â

PAWTUCKET â David Lemmel and his seven-year-old twins â David Jr. and Faith â had just strolled out of the city's YMCA when they heard the commotion occurring down the hill. Wondering what the hubbub was about, they chose to investigate.
Not quite an hour later, little David â wearing a Boston Celtics' hat and green T-shirt under his winter jacket â found himself break-dancing on Roosevelt Avenue. That came at the behest of Pawtucket native Paris Fisher, who knows the boy from Underground 101, a youth ministry group out of the North Providence Assembly of God.
WOONSOCKET -- He's 87 years old now and the war he fought lies almost a lifetime away in the past. But to Raymond A. Noury the day over the skies of Europe when his damaged B-24 succumbed to a final attack by German fighters is still just a moment behind him.
Anyone would have trouble forgetting what Noury went through on Feb. 22, 1944, when the break-up of his plane left him falling through the sky harnessed to a tattered parachute.
