WOONSOCKET - Consuelo "Gil" Perez, 84, of Woonsocket, RI, passed on March 8, 2014 at Oakland Grove Nursing Center in Woonsocket, RI. Gil, the youngest of 6 children, was born on September 1, 1929 on a small farm in Cuba. He realized his childhood dream of coming to America in June of 1947 at age 16.
Lucille B. Smith
NORTH SMIITHFELD - Lucille B. (Arel) Smith, 92, formerly of Great Rd. died March 4, 2014 at The Friendly Home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Lucien E. Smith. Born in Canada, on June 21, 1921, she was the last of twenty three children born to the late Willie and Marie Louise (Joyal) Arel. Lucille was a homemaker for most of her life, and she was a proud and loving mother and grandmother. She also worked for the French Worsted Co. and Tupperware. Lucille enjoyed gardening and did so until the age of 92.
Dorothy M. Stone
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Dorothy M. (Potvin) Stone, 88, of No. Smithfield, died Friday, March 7, 2014 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Wallace E. Stone, whom she married October 13, 1948. Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon Henry and Mary (McBride) Potvin.
Louis R. Roy
WOONSOCKET - Louis R. "Ray" Roy, 80, of Woonsocket died Thursday at Woonsocket Health and Rehab Center.
Born in Uxbridge, MA he was the son of the late Octave Napoleon and Roseanna (Desjardins) Roy. He was raised in nearby Massachusetts and lived in Woonsocket for most of his adult life.
Mr. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army.
Alfred E. Lavallee
CUMBERALND - Alfred "Fred" E. Lavallee, 67, of Main St, died Friday, March 7 at home. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Eugene and Doris (Vermette) Lavallee.
He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic for Electric Boat in Quonset for many years until retiring in 1985. He was a bus monitor for the Cumberland School Dept for the last several years. Fred was an avid golfer, and enjoyed cooking.
Susan G. Giampietro Lloyd
SUTTON - Sutton Susan G. (Fagnant) Giampietro Lloyd, 62, of Sutton, died Fri. March 7, 2014 at her daughters home in Whitinsville. She was the wife of Ralph Webster Lloyd III and the late Robert Giampietro who died in 2009.
Susan was a housekeeper for many families in the greater Northbridge area. She was a member of the Living Hope Ministries in Whitinsville.
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Frances Siminski of North Smithfield died peacefully on March 6, 2014 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Siminski.
Born in Easthampton, MA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Michalina (Aczkiewicz) Olech, she lived most of her life in Forestdale.
Frances was employed by A.T. Cross for many years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, and crafts.
James L. Egan
STURBRIDGE - James L. Egan, 82, of Sturbridge, formerly of Cumberland, RI, a 20 year Air Force Veteran, passed away on Friday, March 7th, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
Robert L. Carey
WOONSOCKET- Robert L. "Pee Wee" Carey, 74, of Woonsocket died peacefully Wednesday morning at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Yvonne R. (Boucher) Carey. They were married on August 10, 1964.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Nelson and Simone (Lamothe) Carey. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Carey was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was proud of his service to his country and lived his life according to the Marine Corps motto "Semper Fi".
Salvatore J. Butera
WOONSOCKET- Salvatore J. Butera, 89, of Rose Ave. ,died, Thursday March 6, 2014 in Landmark Medical Center with his family by his side. He was the husband of Rhea R. (Vachon) Butera. Sal and Rhea celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary on July 4, 2013.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kendra) Butera.
Mr. Butera was a United States Navy veteran serving in WWII.
He worked as a Resident Engineer Aide in Construction for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, for 23 years, retiring in 1986.
