WOONSOCKET Cecile (Brodeur) Bernard, 82, of Woonsocket, died Friday, April 6, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of Rene G. Bernard whom she married April 30, 1955.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Clotilde (Poirier) Brodeur.
She lived in Woonsocket for most of her life.
She worked eight years as a house keeper for St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield, retiring in 1994.
Maria Josepha Giles
WOONSOCKET- Maria Josepha (Postigo de la Flor) Giles, 82, of Woonsocket, died Thursday in Oakland Grove Health Care Center in Woonsocket. Born in Port of St. Mary, Spain, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Postigo Naranjo and Ana de la Flor Canas.
She came to the United States in 1969 with her son Jose, settling in Woonsocket in 1971.
PROVIDENCE- BEAULIEU, PATRICIA (Cunningham), 81, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Millbury Health Care Center.
She was the wife of the late Ernest A. Beaulieu, and the former wife of the late Angelo A. Notarantonio. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Walter and Lena (Auger) Cunningham.
Amelia M. Chartier
WOONSOCKET- Amelia M. (Ionta) Chartier 94, died peacefully Sunday April 1, 2012 in the Friendly Home. She was the wife of the late Alpherie Chartier.
Mrs. Chartier was born in Manchaug, MA, a daughter of the late John and Theresa (Cacciapuoti) Ionta.
She was a stitcher for the Ark Garment Co. for many years, retiring in 1966. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, bingo and bus trips to Atlantic City. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and sharing stories of the old days. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Louis J. Martin
MESA, AZ- Louis J. Martin 65, of Mesa AZ, formerly of Woonsocket, died March 27, 2012. He was the husband of Diane Ross Frappier Martin.
Born in Worcester, MA he was the son of the late Louis and Aldea (Bachand) Martin.
Louis was a US Air Force Veteran serving between 1966-1970, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an Usher at Holy Cross Church in Mesa and a member of the Veterans Club of Crescent Run. Louis was a mail carrier for the US Post Office for many years.
WOONSOCKET- Hortense Laflamme 94, of Dudley St. died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of the late Albert L. Laflamme.
Born in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Romeo and Marie (Dufresne) Giguere.
Mrs. Laflamme was a spinner for the Glenmark Mills for fifteen years, she also worked at Miller Electric Co. as an inspector for nineteen years, before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens, the Fairmount Manor Club, and was an avid reader.
CHEPACHET- Edward Raymond, 78, died April 1, 2012 after a brief illness at Woonsocket Hospital.
He was born on June 4th 1933 in Fall River Massachusetts.
He was the son of Joseph and Mary (Moniz) Raymond.
Edward served the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He returned home to marry his sweetheart Joan Furtado before settling in Northern Rhode Island. They were to celebrate 55 years of marriage on April 20th. Edward enjoyed the company of family and friends, a good card game, and of course his New England sports teams.
Zoe Faye Young
WEBSTER, MA- Zoe Faye Young, five-month-old daughter of Nathan "Zeppo" Young and Laura (Joubert) Young, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 with her parents at her side, holding her at home in Webster, MA.
David L. Vargas
CUMBERLAND- David L. Vargas, 60, passed away Monday March 26, 2012 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield. Husband of the late Ruth A. (Phipps) Vargas, he lived in Pascoag most of his life.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late William F. Vargas Sr. and Myrtle E. (Belknap) Vargas- LaBerge.
David worked for 28 years at Zambarano Hospital before retiring, and then he worked for CVS in Woonsocket.
Robert A. Wheatley
WOONSOCKET- Robert A. Wheatley, 61, of St. Joseph Street died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Trinity Health & Rehabilitation Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Allston, MA, a son of the late Robert E. and Emelyn (Carmo) Wheatley, he had lived in Florida before moving to Woonsocket.
Mr. Wheatley was a CNA for various companies.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by two sisters, Jane Sweeney and Patricia Wheatley, both of Woonsocket; two brothers, James Wheatley of Brandon, FL and Thomas F. Wheatley of Pawtucket; and several nieces and nephews.
