WOONSOCKET- Eileen M. (Silvia) Champagne, 77, of Marie Anne Ct., passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, after a courageous battle. She was the wife of Robert G. Champagne whom she married July 10, 1954.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adeline (Rochea) Silvia.
LINCOLN- Senator James "Jimmy" Costello was born in Providence on February 25, 1917, the son of Thomas C. Costello and Luiga (Ruggeiro) Costello.
James went to school in Providence and North Providence and later took courses in state government administration and business administration at Brown University to help prepare for twin careers in public life and business. On the business side, he also studied at The Chrysler Corporation Master Technician School and the Ford Institute in New York, where he earned the distinction of Master Technician.
Louise M. Carter
BARRINGTON- Carter, M. Louise, of Winsor Drive, died peacefully on August 16, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Carter Jr.
She is survived by a daughter; Marjorie Carter of Sheridan, WY, a son; Frank A. Carter III of Pawtucket and a sister; Catherine Picerelli of Riverside. She was the sister of the late Anthony D. Picerelli and Peter J. Picerelli Jr.
NO. PROVIDENCE- Michael E. Makowski Jr., resident of No. Providence died August 16, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at Hopkins Manor.
Born in Webster MA, loving son of Mary (Boisvert) Makowski and the late Michael E. Makowski Sr.
Michael worked for the former Arc of Northern RI, in Woonsocket. He enjoyed being with his loving family and close friends. He enjoyed sports.
WOONSOCKET- Juliet Salvas, infant daughter of Jessica Boucher & Jayce Salvas, passed away on Friday at Women & Infants Hospital.
She is survived by 2 brothers Justin & Aiden Gilpatrick; 1 sister Haylie Godfin.
Relatives & friends are invited to a committal prayer service on Friday, August 19, at 11:30 A.M. at the chapel at St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Wrentham, Rd., Bellingham, MA.
WOONSOCKET- Lillian Girard, 88, of Unity St., Woonsocket, died peacefully Sunday afternoon at St. Antoine Residence.
A lifelong resident of Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Wilfrid and Theophyta (Hogue) Girard.
In her earlier years Lillian was employed at the French Worsted Mill and W.T. Grant Co. She also worked at Precious Blood Rectory during the 1970s and later as a certified nursing assistant at The Friendly Home before retiring.
Throughout her life Lillian was selfless in devoting her time to caring for the needs of many family members and friends.
SOUTHBRIDGE- Richard T. McNamara, 88, of Highland St., died Sunday, Aug.14th, in the St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.
VERO BEACH, FL- Irene H. Lamothe, 96, of Vero Beach, FL died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Atlantic Health Care Center in Vero Beach.
Mrs. Lamothe was born April 20, 1915 in North Attleboro, MA and moved to Vero Beach in 1996 from Ft. Pierce where she had moved to in 1983 from Bellingham, MA.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Andre N. Durand
WOONSOCKET- Andre N. "Andy" Durand, 56, of Bennett St., Woonsocket, died Saturday at home. He was the loving husband of Helen M. (Dansereau) Durand. They were married on April 24, 1976.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Lionel C. and Esthel M. (Turcotte) Durand. He was a lifelong Woonsocket resident.
Andre was passionate about music and enjoyed playing his guitar to several different genres.
He will be remembered as a man who loved his family.
Jeannette C. Ballas
BELLINGHAM- Jeannette C. (Lamothe) Ballas 90, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully, Wednesday August 3, 2011 at the Medway Country Manor following an illness. She was the wife of the late Charles S. Ballas who died in 1994.
Born May 22, 1921 in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of the late Mederick and Irene (Marcoux) Lamothe, she was a resident of Blackstone, and Ft. Myers, Florida before moving to Bellingham.
Educated in Woonsocket, she was a retired mill worker for the former Jacob Finklestein & Sons in Blackstone.
