Maybe in some perverse way, the Red Sox are enjoying all this attention.
Bad P.R.? Perish the thought. Ryan Kalish feeling good after surgery

October 13, 2011

Four weeks have elapsed since Ryan Kalish underwent surgery to repair a bulging disc in his neck.
“At this point honestly, I can’t really tell that anything was really done to my neck,” said Kalish via phone from San Francisco, where the Red Sox outfield prospect is conducting his rehab. “You have post-surgery pain and all that, but that’s totally gone. It just feels like a normal neck.

Jets to honor Pawtucket's Gerry Philbin

October 13, 2011

Pawtucket native Gerry Philbin sat down to watch his old New York Jets team play football last month when the phone rang at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla.
“It was the owner of the Jets, Woody Johnson, calling to tell me I was going to be inducted into the Jets’ Ring of Honor,” Philbin said on Thursday afternoon. “The ceremony will be held at halftime of Monday night’s game against the Dolphins.”
“I was quite surprised to hear from the owner of the Jets,” Philbin added. “He was such a gentleman to make the call personally. I told him it was a great honor.”
